Kate and the brothers had almost forgotten about the hybrid dinosaur attack from earlier. For a while, they were just enjoying the drive and living in the moment. It felt like an adventure trip across the country with friends.
"Watch me as I drive through that," Zach challenged pointing ahead. And there, a weakly fenced gate, probably of the old park, was in sight. Although Gray started arguing against this idea, Kate thought it looked doable.
"I'm not sure this is a good idea!" Gray whined.
"Just don't break the jeep," Kate joked while proceeding to brace herself for impact, and Gray quickly followed as Zach hit the accelerator with a grin.
Their bodies stiffened in anticipation as the gate closed up on them—the next second, the jeep pushed through the old gate and went on with a bump. The three of them erupted in laughter.

Somehow it felt really good, maybe because it felt like a silly adventure trip the more crazy things they did, or maybe because it reminded them that they had finally made it out of the forests and heading back to the park.
"That was crazy!" Gray laughed.
"See?" Zach said proudly, "We must take risks now and then, and just live a little. Right, Kate?" Kate just giggled and clapped a high-five with him.
The forest had cleared off, and now the jeep sped through the road with nothing else in sight. Kate told them how all the roads in the park directly led to the main park area. The breeze brushing against their face and tousling their hair felt so refreshing now. It started to feel quite chilly after a while as the sweats cooled and dried off in the gushing wind, and now Kate missed her cardigan which she had unmindfully left back at the garage. But even so, she was finally at ease. As the sun lazily neared the horizon, casting beautiful gold hues on the fading blue sky, she, too, hoped to put all the worries to rest.
"So, I've been meaning to ask... you mentioned bikes a few times. I'm guessing you know how to ride a bike?"
"Pretty much," Kate shrugged. "Our house and the raptor paddock are, like, on opposite ends of the island. My bike is how I get around. I ride back and forth everyday."
"Wait—you own a bike?" Zach looked genuinely astonished.
"Yeah," she smirked, throwing him a glance. "Cool, huh?"
"Wow! I want to see your bike!" Gray piped up from the back seat.
"No way! Man, even you got a bike?" Zach chuckled, focusing on the road. "When am I getting one?"
Even though Zach's driving skills were in question when they first started, Kate now found herself wondering why or how he had not passed the license test. He was not perfect, but for someone without a permit, he was doing just fine—decent, even.
