Chapter One: The Introduction
Everything started the day I was introduced to a boy that would go on to change my life. Our life is defiantly not normal but it’s worth documenting. Everything in my life changed with one introduction. I was dating a boy younger than me, and he had made a new friend from the Ultimate Frisbee team he was playing on. The boy's name? Connor Denley. He was a junior, so my age and he was kind and polite. I knew him. We had teacher cadet together 6th period and he was the only boy in a class full of girls. He was good spirited about the fact that he was the only boy. He was smart, and he was funny. I liked him immediately but my ultimate downfall is shyness and I had never said more than three words to him. He was a boy that had been present through my high school career so far but I hadn't realized how close we could actually become.
Everything in my life changed that morning Jon introduced me to him, I wouldn’t know it for a few more weeks but he would soon become my savior, my protector, and my best friend. He and Jon had become fast friends as they had many things in common the most obvious was the love for video games. They were always discussing the latest video game and while I would often get lost, I would just watch them talk. We became the inseparable three musketeers. Jon and I had been dating for a while and we were a bit of an awkward couple as neither of us was particularly talkative. Jon is tall and has blonde hair and green eyes and gives the best hugs. The last fact making him very popular with our theater friends as we folk of the theater have no personal space problems. I had been a member of Kiaros Theater at BHS since my freshman year and I love the people and the sense of family. I introduced Jon and he was a hit. He wasn’t as into theater as I was but that’s how we saw each other and had the chance for quite us moments. My parents rarely let me go anywhere alone with my boyfriend, so someone was always with us.
Not more than a few weeks after meeting this person, I told him my life's story. I told him of family problems, the loss of a woman who was like another mother to me, and the friendship troubles and drama of my life, and yet he didn’t run away. He set about trying to fix my problems. He set about turning my life upside down. He brought me back into the world, taught me how to see life in a brighter light then I had been before we were introduced. He kindly agreed to go out with Jon and I so that we could have dates, and was great about giving us alone time. Never in my life had I had a friend willing to sit through those dates and be a third wheel. He wasn’t just Jon’s friend now, he was mine to. He quickly went from friend, to best friend, to big brother. I could tell him anything and everything. I told him about my fears, my likes, my dislikes, my happy memories, my darkest days, everything, and he never ran away from it, or stopped me and told me I was complaining or being boring. He just listened and then gave me advice, or told me his own tales. We went from barely knowing each other to being inseparable in a matter of months.
He was the first person I went to after that, and that quickly caused issues in my life. My telling him things first, started to cause issues in my relationship with Jon. He became jealous because I had told Connor things no one else knew. Him included. I fixed the situation temporarily by bringing him up to speed on what he didn’t know, but there was times when me and Connor had conversations he was included in and we talked, a lot. We had a class together, we all had the same lunch period, and Jon got less jealous for a while. Especially when Lori Haydon entered Connor’s life.
