nothing like the last one.Genéve awoke later on that morning to the chirping of birds and the sound of the cold breeze flowing in through her open window. She lazily got up and closed it, the drift creating goosebumps on her bare legs. Walking into her small kitchen, she began preparing a bowl of oatmeal with strawberries, blueberries, and honey. The light shined on her dark complexion, giving her a golden brown glow.
She had been doing a lot better recently, a lot better once she met Ethan. She couldn't help but wonder about the effect he had on her, he had a strong grip that was sickening yet she liked it. That's how it was with Jonathan and Grayson she just then realized, maybe she was doomed to the same fate with Ethan. It was sickening with Ethan, yes, but it was the sickness you get when you're about to ride a roller coaster or perform a play for your school for the first time. It made her sick but there was a clear difference between Ethan and the rest...
Ethan, when she saw him she got butterflies, making her stomach do somersaults. The feeling one would receive before riding a roller coaster, performing a school play, and seeing him was thrill, pure excitement.
The story was different with the others; they made her want to vomit, pass out from the motion sickness they gave her. She couldn't believe she didn't see it sooner, it would've saved her so much time and so much heartbreak. Yet she was grateful for it, because if it wasn't for those two idiots she would've never met Ethan. She would've never felt the happiness she felt at the moment, and she knew that it was there to stay.
As if on cue, someone had knocked on the door, making Genéve jump slightly. She got up and walked over to the door, her feet becoming cold from the wood floor. As she opened the door, it revealed Ethan. A look of bewilderment plastered her face as to why he was there without giving her a heads up.
"I brought this for you," he pulled his arm out from behind his back to reveal a beautiful bouquet of white and pink roses, pink carnations, babies breath, and other flowers she didn't know the names of. His smile grew as hers did, glad to see her happy by his small gesture.
"Oh my god Ethan, I love it!" She exclaimed, grabbing onto the bottom portion and taking it into the apartment with her. Ethan walked in after her, shutting the door.
As she placed the flowers on her living room table he stepped up behind her, just enough for them to have breathing room. She turned around and almost bumped into him but he grabbed her waist just in time to stop the collision. They both stared into each others eyes until Ethan loosened up his grip on her, still intimately close. He sighed and spoke, "Genéve, I just want you to know that I'm nothing like Grayson, and I'm nothing like Jonathan. It makes me scared to even think of me hurting you the way they did. I promise to you that with me you'll never be treated wrongly again, you have my word."
She smiled and pulled him into a hug, letting out a huge sigh of relief. They relaxed into each others arms and stayed there for a while, enjoying the moment. "Thank you," she muttered. Ethan didn't reply, he simply smiled knowing she could feel the movement of his cheek muscles on her head where his rested.
They pulled apart and Genéve went to her room, returning to the living room with multiple textbooks and flashcards.
"Now we need to start studying because lord knows you've been slacking."
Ethan chuckled and nodded, sitting on the couch next to her.
