Preface
“You’re insecure don’t know what for,” you sing as you curl your hair “You’re turning heads when you walk through the door, don’t need make-up, to cover up, being the way that you are is enough.”
“Hahahah, ya right” A voice said
You turn around quickly and stared at the figure standing at the door. “Jason! Don’t sneak up on me like that!” I yelled
“Whoa, Whoa Tatum!” Jason said laughing “Calm down, I was just coming in here to see why you were murdering a cat…”
What? What does he mean murdering a cat? Oh… a light bulb went off and automatically started blushing and looking at the floor. “I don’t sing that badly,” you mutter under your breath.
“What? What is that?” Jason says as he moves closer to you “Does my baby sister think she can sing?”
“First Jason” You say with a bit of attitude “I’m 17, I’m not a baby anymore, and two GET THE HECK OUT OF MY ROOM!”
“Hahaha, you’re so lucky Mom and Dad are rich” He says
“What the heck does that mean?” You ask annoyed
“Well you’re not smart at all and you sure as hell can’t sing.” He says as he walks out the door
You walk forward and slam your large, white, bedroom door. It’s not worth it. It’s not worth it. It’s not worth it. But no matter how many times you repeat it to yourself you cant help the steady stream of tears that start to roll down your face. You run to your bed and flop down face first and start silently bawling, hoping your not giving Jason the satisfaction of making you upset. You craw to the top of your bed so your back is against your pillows. Hugging a pillow against your chest you look around at your room. The large glass wall looking over your gigantic zero entry pool over looking the ocean glistened in the afternoon sun, the light green walls of your bedroom looked like the color of fresh grass, your walk in closet that has a keypad to pick out your clothes for you still had its light on, you glanced over at your vanity filled with ever type of makeup and wonder if you ever look good, and lastly your eyes come across your desk. Placing your pillow down beside you, you slide off your bed and open the top drawer of your desk and pull out your laptop. Turning it on you click on the file “Things people will never understand” Inside was your plans to go to The Cayman Islands with Your best friend Carmen. It was what got you through the last four years of high school. Imaging the long white beaches, the nice warm sun, and of course the hot guys! You open up your email and you send the newest version of the plans to her. Turning off your computer, you decide to take a shower and ready for bed.
****** TIME PASSES*****
“Congratulations Santa Monica High graduating class of 2012! We did it!” The valedictorian says. Everyone cheers as you throw your graduation caps into the air. You turn to your best friend with your arms open, and embrace in a hug.
“Congratz Carman! I can’t believe we are finally out of this hell hole!” You say smiling
“I’m so happy!” She says laughing, then all of the suddenly got really quiet “Tatum, look” Carmen says pointing
“Mom? Dad?” You asked confused
“My little Tater Tot! Oh we’re so proud of you!” Mom says
“Thank you! What are you guys doing here? I thought you were in Italy until next week?” You ask
“Well we decided that we had to see your graduation….” Dad says
“Plus…. We wanted to give you this in person” She says smiling holding a rather large envelope.
“I wonder what it is!” Carmen says
When you open the package you’re surprised to see that all that is in there are sheets of paper. You pull out the large sheets of paper and give the package back to your mom. The cover sheet says:
My Dearest Tater Tot,
We are so proud of you! Our little baby is all grown up. Your father and I have talked for a long, long time about what we should get you as a graduation present. But when your dad got this email, we knew this is what we had to get you. This email had an expertly planned out trip to the Cayman Islands for you and one guest.
“What?” You ask looking up confused
*Gasp * “ NO WAY!!!!” You yell
“What? What?” Carmen asks
You start to shake as Carmen finishes reading the paper aloud. “We are giving you permission to go to the Cayman Islands (we are assuming you will choose Carmen to go with you, so we got it approve already by her parents), We are letting you use our private jet, you are staying in the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman Hotel in the Penthouse suite, we got you access to all the hottest VIP only parties, and we are giving you $500,000! So…Behind this sheet is the trip of a lifetime. We love you so so much! Congratulations! With Much Love, Marissa and Chris (Aka. Mom and Dad)”
“OH. MY. GOD. Ahhhhhhhh!!!!! I’m soooo exci….” Carmen Yells as the world starts to fade to black.
