PLOT:
Olivia Hale was turned into a vampire by her own brother, Jasper, after his brief departure from Maria's rule. She has never been able to control herself as well as Jasper has, which results in the lack of finding a permanent settlement.
She doesn't see her brother again until decades after her conversion. She is willing to give up human blood to trade in for the blood of animals, although Jasper is reluctant to let his sister into his adopted family. The Cullen's accept her immediately, including Alice, who has been eagerly waiting the girl's arrival ever since the first visions came to her.
Olivia is hesitant on allowing them to get to know every aspect of her, even the good and the bad. She also remains unsure about the joyful, pixie-haired vampire who tries to turn her heart around for the better.
SUMMARY: Jasper left Maria's rule briefly to find his sister, who was slowly dying of an unknown sickness. Jasper felt as if he had to turn Olivia because she was the one fragment of his humanity. Olivia hates her new life and the responsibilities that follow. She despises Maria and everything that she is, which almost leads to her killing before Jasper escapes with her. Olivia lives on her own after Jasper finds Alice and the Cullen family. Alice is depressed because although Jasper was a new addition, he wasn't the Hale she was searching for. Olivia joins the Cullen household before Bella's arrival. She causes a disturbance because of Jasper's annoyance with the fact that he believed his sister was a nuisance, and that she's leading Alice on without even knowing it.
