It was happening all over again.
Xavier found himself on a plane. He was trying to remember where he was going and suddenly Mexico came to mind. 'That's right. I'm slightly off the border to Mexico.' His time in the plane was more or less dull, mainly spent contemplating the impossibility of what he's going for to be real. He kept reassuring himself that no matter what he's been told about the case, it's not real.
Shortly the plane landed everything became an blur, time moving forward, but he still experienced everything that happened. Him talking to his taxi driver, his arrival and the home of the private investigator seeking his aid, their conversation, and him storming out out of frustration.
And then time returned to normal as the other investigator, Winston, rushed out and stopped him.
"Please help me. Listen, I'll take you to the man who brought this whole thing to my attention. Just don't leave. Believe me."
Xavier didn't want to at all, yet he still found himself telling the man, "Alright," despite his wishes. Maybe it was because he curious, or maybe it was magic in the act. Regardless, Xavier didn't know and still doesn't.
The now ecstatic detective grabbed and shook Xavier's hand. "Thank you! Now we must go while he's still around." Xavier was a bit confused about what he was talking about but it didn't stop him from following the detective as he lead him to his car and drove across town. Once more the events became a blur. The boring car ride, the long walk, the excruciating walk and finally, the arrival. And then came the moment that forever changed his life.
The other detective lead Xavier into a cathedral, in which he introduced him to an old man named Lian. Xavier scoffed at the both of them, calling the old man crazy for believing in magic and demons and called the detective crazier for agreeing to help him.
The detective tried to make Xavier understand, but then Lian came in and told Xavier what he knew. "Sir, I don't even know your name but I can already see in your eyes your drive to do things great and that your future will decide the fate of many. Please, allow me to share with you some information. I understand that you call us mad now, but let me explain before you continue." Xavier decided to let the old man speak, as there may be a logical conclusion behind their misinterpretation. The old man nodded and continued.
By the end of it Xavier was rolling on the ground in laughter and mockery, as every word he spoke was an impossibility to every degree. The old man sighed as the other detective bit his nails. Both were ready to give up on the help of Xavier until the old man gave him a medallion.
"How about this Xavier. I'll give you this charm, The Diablo's necklace. It grants the wearer luck equivalent to that of his potential. I see much potential in you, so I'm sure you'll gain noticeable amounts of luck." Xavier stopped laughing after they offered him proof of magic. Maybe it was a trick, as anyone can accidentally have a good day. So he took it, with the intentions of having the worse possible day.
First he started with a lottery ticket. He expected to fail immediately, but shocked himself when having just become 10,000 dollars richer on a scratch off. He decided to buy another, and sure enough, that one was a winner as well. He bought three more, each one being a winner. Xavier was completely confused, not wanting to give credit to the supposed magical device around his neck. He immediate left the store and gave all the cards to the first homeless man he encountered.
He then proceeded to try his luck at the casino in poker, and once more, the luck pulled through, all his hands being good. He won a few games and immediately left. At this point the ideal of it being true started seeping into his mind, and he refused to accept it. And even if it were, his entire view would be flipped on this discovery of magic. But the coincidence felt too real to and too convenient to pass up. Xavier contemplated a way to disprove it entirely.
