Sleep is good, so it sucks when you don't get any. Emmaline could not, for the life of her, fall asleep last night. What did he mean by, 'explain everything'? Whatever it was she was determined to find out sooner, rather than later."Good morning Miss!" Came Lily's cheery voice.
"It's to early to sound that chipper Lily." She groaned.
"It's 11:00? Didn't you sleep well?"
"No" she said pulling the silk comforter over her body.
"Well, you are expected to go to a lunch today with the royal family, it will help you get more acquainted."
She groaned once more, and rolled out of bed, landing on the floor with a loud thump. Lily pulled out a royal blue dress for her to wear. It wasn't anything extravagant like last nights gown, but simply complemented her own style more.
She picked herself up of the ground and let Lily work her magic. Within an hour she was done, and guided Em to the dining hall.
"Now a little tip, the Queen tends to be- how should I say? Rather judgy?"
Em nodded.
"She isn't the easiest person to get along with. Just smile and agree to whatever she says and you should be good." Lily finished, although she knew that there was little hope that the Queen would like Em.
"I got this!" Em whispered more so to herself than Lily. The violet haired woman patted Em on the shoulder and watched as she made her way to the royals.
A man in a butlers uniform opened the large wooden door, and ushered her into the dinning hall. As if they couod sense her they all silenced at once and turned to watch her. Prince Adrian got up from his spot by his father, and walked over to the nervous girl.
"You look wonderful." He whispered in her ear, as he placed his hand on the small of her back and guided her to the seat right by his. She smiled at his gesture and quietly thanked him.
Once she was seated the king rose up and cleared his throat.
"Now as You all know, the young lady from the prophecy has arrived. I will expect you all to treat Miss. Christian with dignity and respect as after their wedding she will become the future Queen."
Em noticed that a younger looking couple that where smiling warmly at her.
"I'm Adrian's god mother, Amelia, and this is my husband Seth." Her soft voice spoke.
"Nice to meet you!" Em offered a shy smile.
"This is my cousin Andrew and his sister Sophia." Adrian pointed to a pair of similar looking kids around the age of 5. After a few more names were introduced, Em could feel a slight headache coming on. While the family for the most part seemed quite lovely, the Queen just sat there with interrogating eyes, not saying a word.
Em shifted uneasily under her hawk like gaze, and just picked at the scrambled eggs layed out in front of her. She didn't have much of an appetite, because she assumed the crimson red liquid in the family members cups was blood.
"Whats wrong?" Adrian asked her quietly.
"It's just uh-" she fumbled looking for the right words, "is that real blood?" It's not that she was afraid of blood, but seeing 'people' drink it made her feel woozy.
"Yes, we nees it so we don't- in simple terms dry up and die."
"But then why aren't you drinking any?" She questioned.
"I didn't want to drink in front of you." He glanced down, "we're still getting to know each other, and since you're human, I thought it would be best if I didn't drink from your kind right in front of you." He scratched his forearm, nervous she would be disgusted.
