"Emma!"
I looked towards the voice as gun fires and screams echoed down the lonely road. Were we in the middle of nowhere.
Monte
"You have to get out of there" he said in his most calm voice, but his eyes were wide.
Blood was on his face and he was holding a gun out to a certain direction.
"I can't...move" I found myself saying breathlessly. I wasn't exactly in complete pain, but the position I was in made it very difficult to breathe. My back was on the cold pavement, my cheek pressing against the ground to look at Monte, and my left arm was just stuck. I couldn't see where, but it was under something heavy, most likely the car.
"Where are you stuck?" He asked, jumping to action, crawling halfway inside the SUV.
The frame of the car was just destroyed, what used to be the hood completely bent and glass had rained down.
"My left arm" I said, trying to move. Monte's arms reached me, and he wrapped his hand around, trying to pull me. The second he did so pain erupted from my arm and I couldn't help but let a scream out.
"No, stop!"
Monte went still and looked around, making sure nobody was coming. Gun fires were still ringing but they were bit distant now.
"What is that smell?" I finally asked, looking around. I couldn't see the feet anymore.
They were all gone. Monte was trying to free me, pushing and pulling, but nothing.
"That's gas. It's leaking" Monte said in a robotic tone. I frowned but my body went cold.
I was stuck, and there was gas leaking somewhere.
"Hold this, and for crying out loud, don't shoot me" Monte handed over the gun in his hand and I wrapped my cold fingers around the weapon. He instructed to shoot if someone appeared behind him. He wanted me to cover his back, so with a shaky breath, I raised the gun and pointed it over his shoulder in the lookout.
"Where's Lucifer?" I asked and hissed when Monte moved something that mad my arm go on fire.
"He's...taking care of business" Monte said and pushed metal again, his body almost on top of mine. Pain erupted, making me shut my yes quickly, and I clenched my teeth to keep from screaming.
"Almost out" he said under his breath. Metal scraped the pavement, tiny sparks jumping. I gulped air and opened my eyes when he stopped pushing. My heart froze, and I pulled the trigger, the boom echoing so loud it became ear-splitting.
"Emma!" Monte voice came very distant as he turned over me, trying to see who I shot.
The man dropped like a sack of potatoes, a painful scream coming from him as he touched his shattered tibia. His pissed off face and expression met mine and he reached for his forgotten gun on the pavement.
"Emma-"
The man grabbed the gun, his weapon clicking
"EMMA-"
I pulled the trigger
A second boom resounded, and the man fell back and didn't move again. Soon blood pooled around him and Monte let out a breath, his head turning in my direction slowly with somewhat big eyes
"Cut it a little bit closer, why don't ya!" he exclaimed.
"You're fucking welcome!" I responded, and Monte grumbled while getting back to work.
