Through the heavy smoke and loud moans
Past the laughing rich and the weeping poor
Past the broken windows and open doors
Beyond the dark alleys and flickering lights
Beyond the bright houses and ongoing fights
Over the creaking bridges and gushing fountains
Over the wet fields and blue mountains
I ran after and followed your call
I rose higher with every fall
And I finally found where you were
Smiling and laughing at every turn
As I watched, you started fading
And then burst into a light so blinding
Now you lie, sparkling and free of scars
In a field of fallen stars.
