After spending about half an hour at the side of the road sobbing my heart out, having snot running out of my nose and having my face turn all blotchy red, I realised something important. What kind of moronic director thinks their movie will be considered realistic if the main character goes through a tragedy or even a break up and remains gorgeous? It's ridiculous!
It also makes the rest of us think when we cry, we still look presentable.
Then we look in a mirror, and it's like Mr.T popped up and screamed 'Surprise, fool!' and proceeded to bash your face in.
So yeah, I managed to dry off the tears on my face, stop the full-body shuddering sobs and regain my sight. Taking a couple of deep breaths, I take out my phone and text Alanna. A little moral support would come in handy right about now.
Cassandra:
Alanna, I need to talk to you right now. Meet me at our spot in 10.
I sent the text, hoping that she would see it soon. I don't want to be alone right now and Alanna knows me inside and out.
Not even a minute passed before she texted back.
Alanna:
Sure, but I'm gonna need 15. The parentals are hounding me about babysitting Ryan. Everything alright?
I smiled. Ryan was our little brother who was only three. He was the sweetest little thing, I only regret that I don't get to spend as much time with him as I want to.
Cassandra:
Liam and I are done. The interesting part is how I found out. And just bring Ryan with you, I haven't seen him for a while now.
I put my car in gear and started driving to the city's public park. When I got there, I jumped out of my tiny car that Carl and Jenny got for me a couple of months ago before school started.
It's not the smartest thing to have a car in the city because of the traffic and there were buses I could get, but it's nice to no longer have to be forced to sit on uncomfortable, hard seats beside sweaty teenagers, wailing babies and ill elderly people. I'm sure they are all nice people but I like my eardrums intact and dislike people sneezing on my face. No thank you.
Walking through the park, I glanced round me to see who would have the pleasure to notice I have been crying because of my blotchy face.
There were a few elderly people, some parents and children running round after each other. There was also a family having a picnic. The daughter was huffing over something and her father was trying to coax her over and was trying to hide his teasing grin. The mother was smiling, watching them while holding her younger son in her arms. He was currently trying to stuff as much food down his throat as possible.
I smiled slightly, but something inside me was yearning to have had what they have. Family, and a good one at that.
The little girl was about eight, had curly brown hair and was scowling at the moment, was sitting at the edge of the blanket with her back to the rest of them. Her father was speaking softly to her and poking her, which made her let out a reluctant giggle. The father gave up on that tactic and simply stood up, swooped down and swept the little girl up into the air, laughing.
I turned away, hurt by the scene. She doesn't realise how lucky she is to have that. And if she's lucky, she hopefully will never have to.
Walking past, I took in the actual park and not just the people. It was large and spacious, perfect for family picnics, dog walkers and joggers. The path I was walking on snaked its way around the park, looped round a duck pond, wandered over to an area full of picnic benches and tables and drifted off into the small forest at the edge of the open grassy area. Further along, it comes weaving out between the trees at the other side of the miniature forest and wound back round to the entrance forming a circuit.
