Rydge and Hailey watched as the people walked about the bowling alley as they waited for their grandmothers to get their bowling shoes. Some would go back and forth between the bowling area and the arcade talking and laughing loudly as they passed by the kids table.
Occasionally, they would hear the wind outside blowing but for the most part it was being muffled by the loud crowd. Both kids would cross their legs swinging them underneath their chairs they sat in. There was a few kids that would come over saying 'hello' before going over to their own lanes.
"Alright kids, let's put your bowling shoes on." Hailey's grandmother said as she place Hailey's bowling shoes on the table so she could help Hailey with her shoes. Rydge's grandmother did the same helping him with his own shoes.
When the two kids got their shoes on, they both went to the two lanes they were going to use.
"Did you two pick your bowling balls yet?" Rydge's grandmother asked as she and Hailey's grandmother sat down on the high chairs that overlooked the lanes. "Yeah, we did." Rydge groaned out as he showed his grandmother his red eight pound ball, while Hailey held up her two pound green ball.
Once the lanes were one, the two kids didn't waste any time in starting their tournament.
"I bet I'm going to beat you this time Rydge." Hailey taunted her cousin who laughed. "No, I'm going to beat you." Rydge told Hailey who rolled her eyes at him. Their grandparents were watching them as they talked about what happened during the week or what's going on in general. About halfway through the game, everyone decided to get something to drink.
Rydge was in the lead by some twenty points much to his delight. Hailey was doing her best to win but couldn't get the ball to go the way she needed.
Finally, when the game was done and the kids got their regular shoes on, they went to the restaurant side of the building to eat lunch. After they ordered, Rydge had been wanting to ask Hailey if she wanted to come stay the night at his house but kept forgetting to ask her. "Hailey, would you like to come stay the night at my house?"Hailey and their grandmothers turned to look at him then to her waiting for her to answer.
"Well Hailey, would you like to have a sleepover at his house? We have to ask your mother if you do decide to go." Hailey's grandmother asked her as she looked at her. Hailey thought about it before answering. "Is it okay grandma?" This caused her grandmother to laugh a little bit along with Rydge's own grandmother. "Let's ask your mother." Hailey watched as her grandmother dial her moms number then pressed it up to her ear to talk to her. The girl could hear the phone ringing before she heard her mothers voice on the other side.
"Hailey wants to know if she can stay at Rydge's house for the weekend?"
When she hung up, she looked at her granddaughter with a smile. "You can if you come by to get your clothes."
"Yesss." Rydge exclaimed drawing out the s like a snake. This caused the two grandparents to laugh at this. "This is going to be so awesome! I can show you the Xbox one and the games!" Rydge said happily. As he went through detail of what they would do at the house, the two grandparents began talking once again zoning out the excitement of the two kids. This went on until their lunch arrived. They made small talk while they ate; they came up with the idea that Hailey's grandma would head to her mothers house to get her overnight bag, blanket, and pillow. Hailey only lived five minutes away from the bowling alley so it wouldn't take long to get her belongings.
