Today was the day. I've been dreading this day for a year. Today is the day i get to leave my family. I mean, don't get me wrong I love my family to pieces but do I really want to be stuck in this place for the rest of my life? Do I really want to stay here and not experience new things? As a Candor, I have to be honest about every aspect of my life. Even my thoughts.
I walked down the stairs where my family was waiting for me. What should I say to them? 'Thanks for the past 16 years but I am leaving you forever.'? There are so many things I could say but for once in my life, I decide to shut up.
"Honey, if you do choose another faction, we will understand but we are pretty certain that you'll be coming back here." My mother said, stroking my hair. Oh, Mother. If only you knew.
"Your mother is right, Esca. We have every confidence in you." My father said joining my mother and I. I gave them my award winning fake smile and said, and I feel guilty about: "Don't worry. I'm not leaving."
Of course my parents believed me. They believed anything that came out of my mouth. They believe that they raised the perfect honest daughter but what they don't know is that I have been lying quite a lot lately. Must be part of my 'personality'.
You see, this year, I had to take a test. This test defines who we are as people. For example, if you were smart, you got Erudite. If you were selfless, you got Abnegation, if you were kind, you got Amity and if you are brave, you are Dauntless.
I had made my choice. I knew where I was going but no one else knew where I was going. That's the thing about these tests - You couldn't tell anyone what your result was. I suppose it's only to add anticipation to the choosing ceremony.
"We are glad to hear it, Sweetheart." my father said as he hugged me. Oh how I will miss my parents' embraces. I shake the thoughts from my head. I have to forget about them. And fast.
My mother checked her watch. "Oh! We have to go or we will be late!" she started rushing around making sure that she had everything she needed as my father and I stood by laughing at her panicked frenzy.
"Mom, come on. You're going to make later than we already are."
My mother stopped, looked at the watch on her wrist and nodded. A few minutes later, we had left the house. I looked back and said a silent goodbye to the place I grew up in. This is the last time I will be in my original faction, and strangely I don't mind.

When we got to the choosing ceremony, the room was packed. You could just about see the white floor beneath you. I looked at each faction, one by one. Amity were on the far side conversing happily and calmly with eachother. Abnegation were beside them sitting with their heads bowed and not talking. I never really understood the Abnegation. They just seemed really odd. Erudite were in the middle talking energetically to eachother - probably about solar winds or something. Candor were standing around looking serious when talking with their peers. Ugh. And then my eyes shifted to Dauntless. They were everywhere, shouting over to their friends and scrambling over chairs to reach their friends. They were chaotic.
Not moments after my eyes scanned the room I heard a microphone boom to life.
"Can everyone please take their seats, we will be beginning momentarily."
My parents took me to our seats and we sat silently holding my hands. We wait for Jeanine Mathews to finish her speech and then the names are called. I must have waited at least 45 minutes before my name was called.
"Esca Terry."
I looked to my parents and they gave me a reassuring smirk. I walked past them and stumbled down the steps. I walked to the podium and hesitated before picking up the blade that will help me decide the rest of my life.
I looked behind me to see my parents smiling at me. I turned to face the bowls and dragged the blade across my hand. My hand was hovering in the middle of two bowls and I had to decide. Before I could think about it anymore, my blood dripped into the second bowl and my fate was sealed.
"Esca Terry, Dauntless."

Yeah so new thing, hope you like it! the user ladyalexandrabastian gave the inspiration to write this fic because her fanfics Enigmatic and Sacrifice are literally the best thing that I have read. So, without further ado, I present to you, Treacherous.
All rights go to Ms.Veronica Roth for the characters I am using and also for the base and the plan for my story.
