Three days have passed since I started staying with Zayden and his rogue pack. Every night I hear Jason's heartbroken howls, desperate for my response. Each night I want to run to him, to be in his embrace. Every night he invades my dreams.

I try to spend every waking moment doing something to help me keep my mind off of him. Zayden has been letting me train with the other wolves. Today I am sparring.

I'm pitted against Isabella, a female blonde wolf, she snarls as she lunges at me. I dodge, jumping on to her back and I bound from it like a diving board.

She turns quickly and snaps her jaws at my neck. She is acting like she is actually trying to go for the kill.

Zayden whistles for the match to stop but I shake my head. He sits back down in a chair as our fight continues.

Isabella snaps her jaws at my face and I pull it away just in time. My lips flare up showing off my teeth. She lunges at me again and I dodge out of the way and her head collides with a tree with a loud thud.

"Match! Kira wins!" Zayden shouts as Isabella shifts, holding her head as she winces in pain.

"Oww. What, that's bullshit? She never even tried fighting back." Isabella groans.

"She didn't need to. She let you fight yourself and the environment." Zayden explains and Isabella growls at me before stomping off, anger radiating off of her. "Kira, go ahead and take a break."

A wolf walks over with clothes for me and I head for a nearby pond. Placing the clothes on the ground I shift back into a human and wade up to my waist into the cold water, cooling my heated skin. Each passing day it is getting harder to keep my heat at bay.

I feel two hands wrap around my shoulders, making me jolt in surprise.

"Shh, it's only me." Zayden's voice calls from behind me. His lips trail down my neck. I can feel my body heating up again like a raging fire.
He turns me so I'm facing him and his hands trace down my spine causing a low moan to escape my lips.

His hand comes back up and brushes my hair away from my face and it clasps my chin as his face comes closer to mine and heat spreads from where he touches my skin.

Our lips barely touch when a fist comes out of nowhere, making contact with Zayden's chin. Zayden falls back into the water with a splash. I look to where the fist had come from and see Jason. He looks terrible. He has dark circles under his eyes, his hair is unkempt, and he has stubble. Blood trails down from Zayden's lip as Jason continues his assault.

"Jason stop, please don't kill him." I try holding him back.

"I'm not going to kill him, that would be fratricide. I'm just going to beat him within an inch of his life." Jason grits his teeth.

"Jason, please, I'll go back with you just let him go." Tears form in my eyes as I hug him from behind.

"Kira, not now!" His voice sounds furious. I leave the water and put on the clothes as I sat on the bank.

I sit on the ground, trying not to look at the fight. He said fratricide, that means Jason and Zayden are brothers. I run my fingers through my hair.

Jason walks out of the water with bloodied fists and Zayden crawls out of the pond behind him, looking like he lost a fight with a meat grinder, before collapsing.

"I'm sorry about this. I'm going back with him but thank you for taking me in." I say before quickly walking after Jason. He grabs my arm and practically drags me all the way back to his pack house. Pulling me up the stairs, he shoves me into the wall. Both of his fists slam into the wall on either side of my head. Looking into his eyes I can see that he's hurt.

"Jason?" I reach for his face and he grabs my wrist, forcing it against the wall. "Jason please, you're starting to scare me."

"Why? Why did you run off? Why didn't you come back? My own brother? Do you know how much I missed you?" He bombards me with questions and and my heart shatters. "Was it because of me?"

"No, I'm a danger to your pack. I didn't want anyone else to be hurt by the Dark Moon pack." My tears run freely down my cheeks. "I missed you too."

I reach out for his face with my free hand and pull his lips to mine. His tongue slides into my mouth and tangles with mine. His grip on my hand loosens and I run both of them through his hair as his hands wrap tightly around my waist.

When we finally pull apart for air he drops to his knees with his forehead against my stomach, holding me tighter. "Please, don't leave me again."

"I won't, I promise." I wipe the tears from my eyes. He looks so broken.

Jason takes my hand and leads me to his bedroom. He lays down on his bed and pulls my into his arms. Holding me tight against his chest, he closes his eyes, falling asleep. I peer into his face and plant a feather kiss on his lips. He must have been exhausted. I had no idea that my absence would do this to him. I just lay on his chest silently, burying my face into his chest, trying to ignore my rising heat.

By morning I see light streaming through the window. I carefully pry myself from his arms and head for the kitchen. Putting my hair up in a ponytail I begin grabbing ingredients. Once the cheese omelette and bacon are done I put slice of toast on the plate and head back to the room. Placing the plate on the side table I gently shake Jason awake.

His eyes meet mine and he smiles. "Good morning."

"Morning, I made you breakfast."

"I can see that." He mutters. "Come here."

I move closer to him and he springs up and grabs me around the waist, pulling me so I fall on top of him.

"Hey!" I squeal. I sit in his lap with my back to him. His fingers trace my collarbone and it's back..... the electric charge. "So how did you find me?"

"I could smell you. You can mask your scent but you can't mask the scent of your heat." He whispers in my ear before lightly biting my earlobe and I let out a soft moan.

I reach back for his hair and he captures both of my wrists. He begins to trail kisses from my ear, down my neck and to my shoulder where he nips me again, sending waves of pleasure spreading through me. Another moan, this time louder, escapes from my body at the sensation and my head becomes fuzzy.

I ready myself for what's next but nothing. I hear the crunch of toast from behind me. I can feel the smile on his face at my frustration. I turn to look behind me and see him innocently eating the toast like nothing even happened.

"What's wrong? Want some?" He gives me a devilish smile as he holds out the toast to me. Jerk, he knows what's wrong. He's teasing me.

"No, I'm not hungry." I bite my lip. He is obviously enjoying this.

He puts the toast down and kisses my nose. "Don't worry, you'll get used to your heat eventually. This won't be the last time."

"You mean there will be more?" I pout and he nobs.

"Once a female wolf finds her mate she will continue to go into heat." He pulls my hair tie out of my hair and lets it fall, playing with a strand.

"I don't think I will be able to get used to this, my insides feel like they are on fire at every waking moment." I whine.
