Arthur
Arthur never been to a funeral before. And he had to go to two this week. One on Saturday for Francine's cat Nemo, and on Sunday for Mr. Haneys.
No one knew it, but Mr. Haney died a second later after Nemo's demise. It was a very sad weekend to have.
During Sunday afternoon, Arthur walked back home with his family.
D.W: That was depressing. At least there was cake to lighten up the mood.
Mom: (says sternly) D.W.
Dad: Well it was true. There was a lot of nice things said about him. But they didn't mention any of the funny ones. There was a time wear I accidentally threw a football at his head.
(Dad laughs to himself)
Arthur: (laughs) Oh, I remember that. That was so funny.
D.W: Yeah, it was. Too bad we weren't there to witness it person. It would have looked more realistic if it was in color.
Dad: I wished I hanged out with him more.
Mom: I'm going to miss Herb.
Dad: Don't you mean Francis?
Mom: No. His name was Herb.
Dad: No, that was the nickname . Remember? It was in elementary school.
Mom: Oh, right. I didn't come to Elwood City until I was in high school.
D.W: If you moved, why didn't Grandpa Dave move as well?
Mom: We told you this story before. My mom and dad got a divorce.
D.W: Oh yeah! I forgot.
They made it home, and everyone got dressed back into their normal clothing attire, and did their own things.
Arthur decided to call Buster and ask him if he wanted to finish that robin hood book they read together months ago at the treehouse.
Buster: That sounds like fun. We haven't read it in awhile. I wished we had a chance finished it.
Arthur: Well we can finish it now. I will bring the book, see you there.
Francine
Catherine: I am not keeping that smelly litter box in our room.
Francine: I emptied it out. It's all cleaned now...mostly.
Catherine: You should throw it out, and move on with your life.
Francine: I'm still mourning.
Catherine: It's been a week. Get over it.
Francine: I will never get over it. He was my cat, and I loved him very much.
Catherine: You will have to get over it sometime. You don't want to be a mourning wreck for the rest of your life.
Francine: You are only saying that because you are still mad at him for scratching your leg that one time.
Catherine: I am not. I am over it. It is the mature thing to do.
Francine wanted to throw Nemo's litter box at her sisters head. But she knew that would be wrong. It would have been disrespectful to Nemo to use his litter box as a weapon.
D.W.
A week has gone by. D.W. had forgotten all about Nadine. The saddest part was that she didn't know that she should be sad.
No one seemed to notice the absence of D.W. talking to her imaginary friend. The Tibble twins noticed. But they thought D.W. was growing up, and gave up on her silly imaginary friend.
But the ones who cared and noticed were Kate, Pal, and Treenie (Vicita's imaginary friend). Another mystery to be solved.
