It hit me like lightning. Panic and fear took seize in my stomach when I searched for the 3rd house on the right, only to be masked by blue flashing lights and officers milling about what would be Pipers yard. My car jolted to a screeching stop before I lunged out and sprinted to her front door.
"MY BABY SHE'S GONE! GOD WHY?"
I hear what seems to be this deafening chant of that single phrase from Mrs.Cain's lips as I'm sprinting towards the door, everything seeming incredulously minuscule in the moment I don't realize a police officer yelling for me to stay back, too bad I already made it inside.
Stumbling over the welcome rug trying to gain control of the situation I look up and to my left I see pipers room, door open, but the entryway blocked with 'CAUTION' tape. Finding my way to my feet I slowly rise while my hands grope the wall beside of me as I look into Piper's room
Blood.
Blood on the floor and bed sheets, her personal and valuable belongings take refuge broken and scattered on the floor. Window left wide open and a chilling breeze sweeping the house it's impossible to breathe for fear I'd die trying. I drop to my knees and do the only thing I know how in this moment.
Cry, Cry and ask why.
Somehow my feet meet the ground and I give myself a ounce of strength to stand. Still sobbing and my eyes clouded by tears, I feel my way to the front door doing everything I can to keep it together. Stopping for a moment to dry my eyes and calm my nerves I couldn't help but feel so desolate.
