Why Can't I?

"Mom, why can't I go to the writing camp?" I whined.

My parents are smart geniuses and they want me to become a genius like them, when I don't want to. I have to pass every class with a 100% or I get grounded for not passing. I love my parents, but they are sometimes harsh. My friends only can be smart students at my high school that will be going to some ivy league school. My mother, Dorthy, works at NASA and my father, Samuel, works at Standford and I barely see him. I only get to see him on holidays. Mom says that he loves me and they are here for me.

"Because I want you to be a scientist, not a writer." Mom said as she cleaned up the dishes.
"I love writing and you know that. Writing is my life. If I can't wrote than I'll tell Grandma Susie." I said.

Grandma Susie is Mom's mom and when Mom doesn't support me Grandma yells at her.

"I've talked to Grandma Susie about this and she thinks it is a perfect idea for you to go to Science Camp. Your father wants you to move to Stanford with him because that's where the camp is. Dad says it is a wonderful idea and that you should come this summer, which you are. You may go to the college there, because you got accepted today. Dad did call and told me you did and I wanted you to be happy when you came home, but you didn't want to listen to me and you started talking about writing camp."

"I'm not going to Stanford or Science Camp. I'm going to L.A. tomorrow to live with Grandma Susie. Grandma called me at school and said she would call you tonight about it." I said as I picked up my backpack and laid it on the table.

"Grandma Susie can't control where you live, I do. So we never would let you move there anyways. It is dangerous there and you could turn into a hooker." She said.

I ran out of my room and slammed my door closed. I fell onto my bed and started to cry.

"Why can't I be a writer." I screamed into my pillow.
