March 28th, 2018

After two and a half days of being sandwiched in the  backseat with Demetrius and Finn, we finally arrived to our destination of the great Southern California. As soon as I stepped out of the van, I stretched out and heavily sighed because I would no longer have to endure crude jokes, disgusting out bursts, loss of internet access, or trash all over me. Originally, we were all supposed to stay at a hotel but Mom decided it was cheaper to stay with a relative. And this relative was Dad's sister, Ingrid. Now, this was the first time I had heard about Ingrid because Dad never mentions his side of the family. We weren't exactly close with that side of the family, and they never really showed up to our holiday events. So the feeling was pretty mutual. I never understood it but I never questioned it either. However, the simple idea of seeing my aunt for the first time was amazing. My hope would be that she at least was more sophisticated than my Aunt Charlotte because her life and family was pretty fucked up. But it seemed ever since that one Thanksgiving she didn't want to come back down from Canada. Although, I did hear from my Mom that Dawson was sent to army because he couldn't get his act together and Suzie has some sexually transmitted disease so if that's any insight on her family life then I don't know what is. I just hope the dumb Charlotte gene in the family doesn't get to Charlie. Anyway, my hopes about Auntie Ingrid were somewhat true because of the size of her house which only meant she had an even larger paycheck. It was huge! The yard was nicely trimmed, a winding driveway to the house, it was all so great. It felt like I was in the Wizard of Oz.

Dad knocked on the front door again, suitcases in hand, and checking his watch. Someone from inside let us in through the gate so I wouldn't know what to expect from my dear Aunt Ingrid, who I didn't know existed until two days ago. Now that I'm thinking about it she does owe me quite a few birthday cards, and considering she is rich I don't see why throwing in a little money would be a problem. Dad checked his watch impaciently. Being a buisness man meant he couldn't wait a view seconds, huh? "Where is she? We said we would be here at two, but I don't see her anywhere."

Mom rolled her eyes. She doesn't act like it all the time but sometimes I can see where I get my sarcastic demeanor. "I'm sure she's coming," she readjusted her floppy hat, "God, I haven't even seen your sister in years. It's so exciting! Ingrid hasn't seen Tyler since he was a baby, and now she's gonna meet Charlie."

"And how come no one told me about this Ingrid person?" I chimed in. "The first time I even heard of her was on Monday. Why I haven't you guys talked about her at all. I have never seen pictures of her at all..."

Before I could finished my sentenced the door opened. We all look up at my possible Aunt Ingrid, who happened to be....an asian woman?

-

Now, let me start off by saying that I am not in fact asian. I am as white as a sheet of paper if I don't tan. I am so white that I'm sure if I stay inside too long I'll turn into Capser the Friendly Ghost. A slight exaggeration but whatever. Mom is the only person with any real pigment because some people on her side are Native American but besides that nothing. I got my skin tone from Dad.

-

"James?" the asian woman spoke, taking off her sunglasses. She was fairly young, her big brown eyes lighting up with happiness. Her black hair with brown highlights shined along under the sun, simply radiating off of her. A smile was stretched across her face. Dad put his suitcases down and gave her a big hug, "Oh, Ingrid, its been too long." she followed suit with an equally passionate hug.
