It’s a hot afternoon. My shirt is soaking wet from the heat and my heart should be bursting with joy because the rainy season is over but, little did I know that summer would be this hot.
I looked at my wrist watch, “4:59” I am heading to “All City Cafe” right now for my work.
I’m a part time waitress slash barista and my shift starts at 5:30 until closing 11:00 in the evening.
I arrived there at exactly 5:15 and everyone was busy doing their job.
I prepared myself, I wore my cap, my apron, and name plate.Wow, it is surprisingly calm today.
“Okay, okay! Prepare yourselves. We are now opening! Wear your sweetest smile!” our manager announced.
I tried my best to put my sweetest smile so I can look nice and approachable.
Everyone wants nice people, isn’t it?
There goes the first customer..
“Good day, welcome to All City Cafe, may I take your order, please?”
This has been my line since last year.
“Can I have a large, triple-shot, sugar-free, non-fat latte, please?”
The second order..
“A regular, please?”
The third one..
“Could I have a medium coffee to go?”
And that’s how my day in All City Cafe revolves.
I take orders, I give them what they like, coffee, tea, cake, milk-shakes, name it..
And I’m getting paid from it, enough to sustain my needs.
“Sleepy-head, do you have plans for our rest day?” Rumi asked.
“I’m planning to rest.” I replied.
“I saw a good place to unwind, you want to go?” he asked.
“I don’t. I said I want to rest.”
“then rest with me”
After hearing those words, I looked at Rumi with all disbelief in my face because he’s surprisingly persistent today.
Which is quite annoying.
“No.” I answered shortly.
It’s half past eleven and we are here sitting in this lonely and silent bus.
Not to mention Rumi lived next to my apartment.
Rumi did not bother to talk to me again. Maybe he knew that I can’t afford to go out, he knew that I’d rather stay in my apartment than mingle with strangers, put up a fake personality so people will like me.
Hello? I’ve been doing all of these in my work-give me a break!
“You know what, we should start dating already.”
I looked at Rumi and laughed as hard as I could.
“What’s wrong with you, huh?” I asked with disbelief.
“so you can go out with me without worrying the expenses.” he explained
“Wow, have you just pitied on me?” I asked.
“No, I..uh..I just want to be with you.” he answered immediately.
“Isn't it obvious?” He added with a serious tone and look.
