I woke up to my senior year of high school, and like always I was struggling with the task at hand.

Getting up.

"Lia! Get your lazy butt up!" I just ignored her and got under the covers. "I know your ignoring me, but if your not in the kitchen in 10 minutes I will pull you out of bed myself and drop a bucket of water on your face to wake you up!

Well aren't you a ray of sunshine.

   "Lia-"
"I'm going!" I yelled. I groaned and got up.

I  got dressed and walked downstairs to the kitchen in a very zombie-like manner, you can say.

I saw my mom in her usual clothes to go to work. Which was nowhere because she was an artist and worked at home.

"Your wearing that on your first day of school, wear that cute dress I bought you," she said her nose scrunched up, shaking her head at my jeans and shirt like I was wearing rags or something.

Did I mention my mom was a fashionista, well yeah she was a huge one and had to look at my clothes before I went anywhere.

I stuck my tongue out at her and strutted to the fridge.

"So mature," she said, giving me a look.

She left and I hurried with my mourning routine and ran to my mom's room.

"Linda, Linda, Mom, Linda Linda... are you going to give me a ride to my prison today?" I asked her when I was ready to go.

"Why can't I have a normal child?" she answered and I rolled my eyes at her.

"I speak only the truth mother!"

The ride to school was normal except as we were nearing my school, we saw army trucks heading the way to my school. Why? I had no idea. My school, Roosevelt High, was like any other school, nothing special. So why was the army there?

"Strange," mom said. "Probably have assembly about joining the army or something."

"Yeah cuz thats norma," I said, thinking about the past days. This week was kind of strange. I haven't heard a single ambulance, helicopter,or police siren at all. And that just doesn't happen in Loyle Heights because you hear these sounds more than twice in an hour and I haven't heard anything these past days.

When we arrived to school, I bed my mother goodbye and soon found my friends Ariana, Abigail, and Daniel.

"Li!" Ari screamed when she saw me and started running to me. I braced myself for her attack.

Her hug that squezzes the life out of you. Literally,  I'm being totally serious.

"Um....okay Ari, you can let go now," I breathed out. As you can guess Ari was the cheerful, optimistic one in this group.

"Hey guys," I said to Abby and Danny when they started walking here.

     "Hey," they said in unison.

"You guys, why are the army in our parking lot?" Danny asked.

"Yes because we would obviously know," Abby said sarcastically.

      "Hm....maybe," he said.

"Whatever you guys, let's just go in. I have a feeling we're about to find out," I said and we all walked in to some news that we were never to expect.
