it wasn't real.
that's what she kept on hearing from everyone. that her friends weren't really her friends and that she was delusional if she ever thought that they would visit her.
she felt comfortable with her friends, and they played together for many years since she was ten years old. her friends were amazing and ran in the fields and pretended to be fairies. they fought against dragons with each other and officiated mock weddings with future husbands or handsome princes. they made cookies together and ate them up in their treehouse.
over the next few years, her friends became what parents might refer to as the wrong crowd, the bad kids. they told her to do bad things like steal and be mean and anything else they thought of. that's when she told her parents about her friends. they told her that the friends weren't really her friends. she didn't listen and still wanted to hold on to the fairies and cookies and handsome princes.
her parents then saw her making cookies, and while she wasn't looking, they slipped in a white, powdery substance into the batter. she was laughing and having fun with her friends while baking. And when she went into the treehouse and devoured the cookies, her friends disappeared. she searched and searched but couldn't find them. she asked her parents but they said they weren't real.
it wasn't real.
