SEVEN: A Sip O' Caffeine

I opened my tired and rain coated eyes. I stretched my legs as much as I could inside the car.

I looked out the slightly wet window. It was drizzling lightly outside and the windows of the golden lit coffee shop were coated in streaks of crystal water. I ruffled my hair lightly and pulled out my shirt at places where it stuck to my skin.

I felt something churn in my throat and a while feeling of weirdness filling me. I registered my sense before realising again whose car I was sitting in.

Blinking, I looked to my right. Blake's odd green eyes now looked black in the dark and with that intent stare he looked like he was going to pounce on me any second.

His right elbow was balanced on the wheel and his left arm draped over his seat. Taking in his cool relaxed posture, I figured he had been watching my like that for quite some time. The weird feeling level rose one notch higher.

"You look awful when you sleep."

Only now did I realise how deep his voice was and how hot he looked under the shop's golden glow, even though it was faint.

I forced myself to breathe. "I will take that as being sarcastic," I narrowed my eyes and pointed my finger at him," How long have you been watching me?"

He shrugged, glancing outside, and then looking back at me again. I took in his face and how an artist wouldn't need curved lines to draw it. Only straight sharp strokes.

"I couldn't help it. I didn't want to wake you up either. We're here by the way," he placed his hand on the door handle, " Let's get this over with before it's too dark."

I nodded and suddenly felt extremely self conscious.

I looked down at myself. Uncomfortable wet jeans and a very light blue shirt that when worn wet, made me look like I have nothing on at all.

I put in this one because of the sun, now it's playing dirty games against me.

Blake was standing outside, running a hand through his hair while looking at the side mirror.

So he was conceited too. On the contrary, I don't think conceited boys ever failed to please the eye.

I realised I needed something to put over my messy state. Going like this would be embarrassing. What if one of the kids from school coincidentally dropped by here?

With a shudder, I opened the door and stepped out to face the gloomy evening. I walked around the car to face Blake, only the side mirror separating us.

His hair was slightly soaked and his long eyelashes were dripping little water drops. Blake licked his lips and looked up at me with a raised eyebrow. "Are you openly checking me out?"

What? No! A girl was standing in front of him half shivering and that's the only thing he can think of?

I shook my head in annoyance and tugged on his leather jacket," I need this."

He looked at the hand that was touching him. "But this is my favourite!"

He took my hand away and stepped back, covering himself like he was naked and faking innocence.

Sighing, I walked around the side mirror so that I was directly in front of him. I put a hand to my chin and acted like I was thinking hard, " Ah....so no need for a coffee together then. I am in no hurry, I can actually come here anytime when the weather's improved. You can just drop me—"

Blake interrupted my placing a hand on my mouth and he lifted up a finger. I laughed on the inside. He looked like a Buddhist monk giving advice. " Let me stop you right there."
