Arthur and Ladonna

Arthur walks to the nearest post office mailbox and finally mails his letter to Buster, hoping that he will get it soon.

Ladonna walks to the mailbox, holding what looks like a postcard.

Ladonna: Hi Arthur! Who are you mailing to?

Arthur: Hey Ladonna. I was just a letter to Buster.

Ladonna: Really? I wish I done the same. I hope it gets there in time.

Arthur: I assume it will. But Buster won't.

Ladonna: What do you mean?

Arthur: His dad is a pilot, and they are currently traveling around the world. Which means he won't be able to read it until he comes back to his dad's place.

Ladonna: There's nothing that you need to worry about. It's not like the words will leap off of the letter and break out of the envelope.

Arthur: (chuckles) Yeah. But he won't reply back to me sooner.

Ladonna: True.

Arthur: Is that a postcard?

Ladonna: Yeah. It's an Elwood City Postcard. My mom and I bought a few at the airport's gift shop a week after we moved here a few months ago.

Ladonna shows Arthur a postcard of the Jacob Katzenellenbogan statue with a duck sitting on it's head during a sunrise, and it says: 'Elwood City! Founded in 1903'.

Ladonna: This is the third time I've used this kind of postcard. And it makes Alexandira, my friend back in Louisiana, laugh every single time. The first time I sent her this kind of postcard she replied back that she took one look at this picture when she was drinking a lemon lime flavored Sarah Soda, and she started to laugh, and it almost came out of her nose. I choked on a PB and J sandwich laughing when I read about it.

Arthur: That happened to Buster one time. Except it was a strawberry thick shake.

Ladonna: Did it almost came out his nose, or did he choke on it?

Arthur: It came out of his nose, and landed on my glasses.

Ladonna: That must have been gross. But don't you mean a strawberry milk shake?

Arthur: It's called a thick shake. They have them at The Sugar Bowl.

Ladonna: I never noticed. I will have one next time I go there. Cross my heart.

Ladonna puts the postcard into the post office mailbox.

Arthur: Do you miss Alexandra?

Ladonna: Her name is Alexandira. But don't worry, you aren't the first to get her name wrong. And yeah, I do miss her. But I did went to visit her this summer back to New Orleans for two weeks. It was the funnest two weeks of my entire life with her.

Arthur: Do you ever want to move back home and be with her.

Ladonna: Sometimes. But this is my home now. And I will always miss my old home. But I love it here. And if I never moved, I wouldn't have made new friends here in Elwood City.

Arthur wondered if Buster will never come back and would enjoy living with his dad much more than here. And what if Buster made new friends that would over shadow him.
