Sookie P.O.V
Working at Merlotte's was boring as usual as I heard everyone's thoughts. Sam was manning the bar meanwhile Lafayette was cooking up delicious, greasy food. My sister Tessa was zooming around tables getting orders as part of a friendly competition with Arlene. Tes was in the lead as she was getting more tips which she would always split with Arlene regardless. With no new customers, the two of us could finally take a break.
"How's the game going?" I asked as we leaned against the bar. Tessa's wavy dark brown hair bounced as she walked. She was a little curvy but clearly athletic underneath her tan skin. Her dark brown eyes always seemed lively when around family & friends.
"Oh pretty good. I'm up by 20 bucks through I'm still going to give her some." She answered "How's your head?"
"Okay, I managed to tune everyone out." I replied which made her smile before Sam handed me the phone
"I'm so sorry Sam. We've told her not to call us at work." I apologised
"Sookie, its okay. You both don't abuse the privilege like Arlene does." Sam replied as Arlene came by
"Hey, I heard that." Arlene commented as she passed by with a tray
"Well I wish you would hear that." Sam retorted which made Tessa laugh
"Please Sam, I have kids." Arlene justified before delivering the food
"This better be an emergency." I answered as we split the phone
"I just quit my job." Tara replied
"Again?" Tessa asked
"I can't work for assholes." Tara explained
"I'm glad that you can afford to be so picky, say hello to the rest of us." I shot back
"Shut up. Sam is not an asshole. He's totally in love with you." Tara teased
"Tara, he is my boss." I whisper growled
"Jesus Sookie, you need to lighten up." Tara said
"You know I hate it when you use the "J" word. I gotta go." I answered as the restaurant started to get busier
"I'm coming over. I need a margarita, a big one." Tara said before I hung up
"Tonight is going to be long." Tessa huffed as she rolled her feet
"It's just Tara. Besides, she stayed a little bit longer than usual this time." I reminded her
"Then, I guess she does deserve that margarita." Tessa said before eyeing the room. " Well back to work. Lafayette probably needs help in the kitchen."
"Alright, see you in a bit for the drama." I shouted as she went to seat customers
"You know it." Tessa replied as she snapped her fingers
"Mack & Denise Rattray are just about to sit down in your section." Dawn warned me which I was thankful for.
They were the worst & rudest customers ever. They avoided Tessa like the plague after she flipped Mack over a table for trying to grabbing her ass. Sam saw the whole commotion & naturally defended Tessa. I couldn't believe that they had the nerve to still come in occasionally. Thankfully, Tessa wasn't very aggressive unless she got really pissed off. That usually only happened when people wouldn't give her space but was a guarantee if they messed with anyone she loved.
"Don't let them get to you chere. They're not worth it. Besides, they're too scared of Tessa anyway." Sam reminded as Tes gave them a death glare from her peripheral
