(A/N: hey guys! I just want everyone to know this story is inspired by un1-wh0re's (from Tumblr) siren AU that they mentioned once but it's beautiful either way and so I wrote this for them! And I actually know who did that art so credit to hikarikome (from Tumblr as well) for this beautiful art and I hope you guys enjoy this!)
It was just another day for John, another early Sunday morning. He made his usual route up and down the wet sand on the beach, the soft breeze blowing through his long curly brown hair. He was looking for the perfect shells for his art as always, when he heard the beginning of the siren’s soft song. The melody soft and soothing, like a lullaby but more alluring. John listened to the beautiful male voice as he was his way closer to the source. His eyes wandered farther down the beach hoping to see who was singing the song but instead he saw a someone, a jogger perhaps, walk into the sea, The woman was in a hypnotized state as she slowly walked farther out into the ocean, to her undenying death. This caused John to snap out of the trance he was in and looked around a little confused. He was standing waist deep in the water, unsure of how he got there but he saw that the woman was almost completely submerged. He immediately went into action, swimming out to where she was as the siren's song grew sour, making it agonizing to get to her. As he got closer the song seem to grow more foul, making it harder to focus, but it was too late, the siren had already stopped singing and made his way to claim his prize.
The sour song still ringing in John’s ears as he tried to find the woman, the murky blue-gray water making it almost impossible. He dove under the surface of the water to fid her, opening his eyes, not giving a damn about the saltwater. In next to no time John’s vision was blurry and red. He resurfaced and rubbed the water out of his eyes just to see that the water lapping as his skin was bloody, almost causing him to scream.
He looked around and saw a light green fin skim the water, watching it come towards him. It stopped a few feet away and the the owner of the fin surfaced. He had dark brown, presumably straight, (unlike both men) shoulder length hair, gorgeous chocolate brown eyes, and a severed human arm in his mouth, the watery blood dripping down his chin as his lips curled into to a smile, when he saw John. John’s soft freckled face and soft green eyes affecting the siren, he had never seen the freckled man up close before. He had only seen him from the ocean, hoping to meet the man that was here every week to find the most gorgeous shells and take in the beauty of the beach. The siren, known as Alex had sometimes left those shells there, hoping that the freckled man would take them and usually he did.
But all of that rememberance and happy butterflies came to a screeching halt when John screamed like a little bitch and swam faster than any olympic swimmer ever has. The piercing scream caused Alex to jump back and wince a bit as he swam off, Alex look at him a bit confused and sad till he realized he still had a human arm in his mouth causing him to groan and face palm, spitting out the arm in the process.
The next week on that Sunday, Alex sat atop a rock, watching the coast of the freckled man, hoping this is the day he could possibly talk to him. But the man didn’t come that day, so Alex waited till the next Sunday. Yet again, the freckle man wasn’t there, Alex began to worry about him, and hope that he’ll be back soon. After a full month John had finally returned to the beach. This time Alex was ready, over the past month he had collected the most beautiful shells. His heart seemed to race as he saw John walk along the shore looking for more sea shells. He slowly slipped off his usual rock and into the water, and made his way to the shore.
John seemed a bit more hestaintant then normal as he looked for shells, h was afraid to be the next victim of the siren’s song. He casually walked along the shore as he did the month before the incident, finding beautiful shells yet again. As he did he watched the sea for any sign of the siren. When he didn’t see him, he’d smile out at the ocean, finding it tranquil and peaceful. Till one time he saw a familiar face look to him from the water, making adrenaline rush through his veins. His smile quickly turned to a look of horror and he almost dropped all the shells he had found to run. Luckily Alex saw how scared John seemed to be and was quick to speak.
“Wait! Please don’t go! I’m sorry I scared you… I brought you a gift.” Alex said, his heart dropped, upset that he had scared him that badly. He slowly lifted a bag composed of seaweed out of the water to show John. John looked back at the handsome siren confused and worried as he saw the bag.
“Please, I want to talk to you… I see that you like shells… that’s what’s in the bag.” Alex said hopping and internally pleading for John to come closer and take the bag. For John to like him, for John to forgive him. John looked at Alex and slowly made his way closer before pausing.
“How can I trust you not to do what you did to the woman, to me? “ Alex looked at John hurt, that he’d think that he’d do the same. Humans are strange… they think that if I eat a few I’ll eat all of them! So what if I ate one little human? I don't want to eat too many they’re too high in fat and sodium to eat every day… They are a once a month thing. Alex thought but shook away realizing that may not be the best thing to say right now… he’ll bring it up some other time.
“I don’t want to eat you… I needed food… you guys eat fish. I’m half fish and half human… I know more fish then humans and I don’t think my next door neighbor, Jerry, would like it if I were to ate his wife. anyways that’s not the point… you’re different from other humans… I want to get to know you more. So please take the bag.” Alex said as he swam up closer to John, just barley in enough water to not die.
“Fine.-” John sighs a bit before continuing “- but that doesn’t mean I trust you.” John walked over to him and took the bag slowly and looked in it to see the most amazing shell he’s ever seen.
“I know but one day I hope you will.” Alex said with a small smile as he thought to himself: I’ll wait as long as I need to to be with someone as beautiful as the sea.
