The Race: pt.1

Her heart was pounding like the thrum of a roaring train rushing down a train-track,  and soon, she would be rushing down a track of her own. Jaiel Richardson is a  17 year old senior at Putnam County High School in Eatonton,  GA. Running was her passion, her safe haven, her world. Now she was at her local all-star track and field tournament that would determine her chances of going to her state competition. All she had to do was be in the top three, but she knew top three wouldn't be acceptable to her father, only first place would do. As she was stretching and warming up, she looked out into the crowd, searching…searching, found it. She was greeted by the faces of her family, Well, at least two if the three faces were greeting her. Her mother's comforting eyes, and her sister, Olivia's,  warm smile filled her with glee. Her father, on the other hand,  gave her a stern look and a firm nod, in other words, this meant Don't mess up!
