beating on his chest like a bongo. He understands she's coming from a hurt place, answers all the questions on her survey.Genéve checked her phone as she laid on my bed, she seemed to be texting someone. Her fingers typed rapidly, aggressively hitting each key.
I looked over at her as On My Block continued to play in the background, "Is everything okay?"
She got up and started pacing back and forth in my room, tears forming in her eyes, "No, I'm not Ethan! I'm fucking not!"
I got up and walked up to her, bringing her into a tight embrace but it was retaliated.
"No! Get off of me!" She pushed me off then began to pound her fists down on my chest, taking me aback. "How could you!?" She sobbed, each blow getting weaker and weaker.
"Genéve, what're you talking about?" I wanted her to stop, seeing her like this broke my heart.
"I trusted you! And you betrayed me!"
"Please, tell me what I did!" I pleaded, her emotions were increasing and increasing although she had stopped hitting me.
"We made a promise to give each other time with our past, with my past! And you violated that!"
I instantly knew what she was talking about, Sophie must've accidentally told her. I had gone to her just so I could know what not to do in the future and I needed to know so badly to the point where I broke our promise. I'm such a fuck up.
"I'm sorry Genéve," I said quietly, hoping she would ease.
"Where you ever going to tell me?" Her sobs were getting worse, I knew I needed to tell her the truth.
"No."
She gasped in her sobs, then let them back out again, "Did you expect me not to find out?"
"Yes."
"Why did you do it? Why would you do this to me?"
"Because I needed to know what happened in your past so I wouldn't make the same mistakes," she instantly looked up at me, her sobs coming to a screeching halt but tears still fell from her eyes. "I didn't want to hurt you like they did and I most definitely didn't want to cause this, I should've known better Genéve, and I fully regret it. I was being selfish and I'll take all the blame and all the hits. You deserve the best and I just wanted to give it to you but I went about that the wrong way and I see that now."
She sniffed, her right foot moving back and forth as she looked down, "I'm sorry Ethan."
"No no," I pulled her into a hug and she wrapped her arms around me tightly as she let her cries out, "Don't apologize. I'm the one who should be sorry. It won't happen again."
She smiled into my chest and squeezed me tighter.
