There was a knock on the door which startled Lucas causing him to drop the journal. It fell onto his lap then flopped to the floor. He got up and put the journal in the table. He headed toward the door, but before he could even get half way down the hall Jackson opened the door.
"Wait, that was unlocked?" asked Lucas mostly to himself.
The door slammed shut. "Yup. So why did you want me to come over?" questioned Jackson following Lucas who was going back to the dining room table.
"I got a package. And you won't believe who it's from." started Lucas now standing next to his chair. He waited for a response but Jackson didn't say anything. "It's from my dad." said Lucas.
Jackson's eyes widened. "You're joking right?" he asked with a small laugh. But he knew Lucas wouldn't joke about something like that. "What was it?" he added.
Lucas picked up the journal. "This." he answered turning to face Jackson.
"Wow! It's a book!" sarcastically exclaimed Jackson.
"Shut up." glared Lucas. "It's my dad's journal."
"So what's it about?" asked Jackson more seriously not wanting to upset Lucas any more than he already had.
"Ok, Jackson you're going to have to just go with what I have to say for a moment here. No questioning my sanity or anything like that. Do you understand?" questioned Lucas flipping through the pages.
"Yeah, sure, just show me the book." responded Jackson impatiently.
Holding the book out so Jackson could also see it Lucas explained that each page seemed to be able to take who ever used it to the place described. Than about how his father had written him a letter that told him to go to Willow's Edge. Jackson, thinking the whole time Lucas was crazy, stood listening to Lucas's madness without interrupting him because he was a good a friend and had already agreed to not say anything.
"I'll prove it to you. Put your hand on the book and say take me to Willow's Edge." said Lucas seeing the look on Jacksons' face.
Rolling his eyes Jackson put his hand on the page. "Take me to Willow's Edge." repeated Jackson. Nothing happened as he expected and he waited for Lucas to say something. Confused Lucas told Jackson to wait hoping it just needed a moment to work."I don't understand it worked. It worked just a few minutes ago. I went there!" exclaimed Lucas gesturing towards the picture of Willow's Edge. "Maybe it doesn't work for you. I'm going to try, but I'm not crazy it did work." continued Lucas after a taking a short pause. "Take me to Willow's Edge." he said putting his hand in the page.
"Lucas, just stop. This is sad." said Jackson putting his hand on Lucas's shoulder. But before Lucas could respond the world flashed to black then to the forest and field of Willow's Edge.
Lucas now stood looking at the forest that was shown on the picture, holding the book. Jackson stood just behind him like before his hand still on Lucas's shoulder. A wide smile spread across Lucas's face and he turned to Jackson. Jackson was frozen in shock his hand dropping from Lucas's shoulder as Lucas turned to face him.
"Welcome to Willow's Edge! I know you didn't ever believe me! But it worked! It worked and now, now..." started Lucas unsure what they should do next.
Jackson looked around still shocked by what had happened. "Are those buildings over there?" he asked looking back at Lucas. "We should go check them out!" he declared.
"I was going to say lets going ba- Oh whatever lets go." Lucas started before realizing that when Jackson said something like that he really meant We are going and there was no changing his mind.
Without waiting for Lucas Jackson started towards the buildings. Lucas followed just as excited as Jackson, but not just because he wanted to check out the buildings like Jackson did. He was excited because if his father was going to be some where here what better place to look than the buildings over there?
