It rained that day. The raindrops dripped slowly from her hair and face. It didn't bother her. Nothing bothered Cleo then and there. Not even the cold wind from north that came with a whisper about death. If I just had gone home, Cleo thought to herself. If I just had gone home none of this would have happen.
She knew it was her own fault. Her parents had told her numberless times not to go in to the forest. She always listened to them, until now.
She knew the clock had to be at least 3 in the morning. Before her phone died it had been two. It died for about an hour ago. Cleo was supposed to be home in her own bed.
Normally she had to be home before nine, but this night she had been to her friend's party. It was her first party ever. Her classmates always invited her, but Cleo's mother never let her go. However, two days ago, Cleo's father found the invitation and asked her about it. She had told him it was her friend Sarah's birthday party. At dinner next day her mother and father had talked to her about it, and to her surprise, they let her go. The only rule was that Cleo had to be home before eleven o'clock. She broke that rule.
"Cleo," Xiumin sighed. As she heard her name come out of his mouth she hated him even more. She hated him for his perfect voice and how he made her name sound so beautiful. "Why would you not listen to your mother?"
She tried to answer him, however only a weak whimper escaped her mouth. He laughed. She could feel his deep laughter rush through her body. Then he suddenly went quiet, like he was listening to a distant sound. Cleo tried to pick up some sound, but she heard nothing.
"They are moving fast," Xiumin barked out. "Come on. Someone, take the girl." Everything went quiet. None of the men wanted to have a squealing girl on the horse. Xiumin cursed lowly when he realised he had to take the girl on his own horse.
When he went to pick her up he could see tears in her eyes. Or what he supposed was tears. It could have been rain, but he didn't think so because her eyes were red and puffy.
He tossed her over the horse's back, and then he climbed up after her. He could feel her shift behind him. "Two men in front, two on each side of me and the rest of you behind," Xiumin commanded. Then they started moving. Cleo shivered as the cold wind hit them.
"Hold on tight, if you fall I will tie you in the horse's tail and let him drag you against the ground the whole way," Xiumin threatened her. "You can hold around me if it helps." His voice softened a little.
Cleo thought of it. Even though she couldn't stomach the thought touching him, she knew that alternative two was far worse. She clings her small arms around him.
Her tears slowly fell from her eyes and on his back while they slowly rode.
