Missing Her...

I went back to my hotel room and peeled off my layers of clothing. I jumped onto the bed and let out a piercing scream into my pillow. I never got the chance to fully mourn Kaarina because when she died, I died too. All of our immediate family and friends think that the we are both dead, Amíl did this to cover up the execution in my home. She moved me into a extended stay outside of the city for the time being, until I could find a place I wanted to be or I'd jus stay here. I'd be here for awhile— everything reminded me of my wife.  Kaarina was my everything, she was my only.

It had been exactly a month since her passing. Everywhere I turned I saw her face, even in my dreams. I shouldn't have escaped and Kaarina would've been alive...
Since 18, I was a part of an elite organization called Vice. We assassinated under Amíl's delegation, erased crucial elements of people's lives, and created new identities for others. Yes we traveled, but it was at the expense of another life. All business.

While on a job in Italy, I met Kaarina and fell in love. She won me over with her shy demeanor and crescent shaped dimples, the ones that only showed when she smiled. I loved her smile. My time in Italy was coming to an end and I grew more and more depressed. I didn't want to leave her. I had made up my mind to tell Amíl that I wouldn't be joining them going back to the States. I told Yujan, one of the other members, and he was not excited for me to say the least.

"Do you know what she's capable of? I mean look around you; there's at least seven more people in this room who could take you down and will if Amíl gave us the go. We don't want to die. We have more important things to take care of. WE do." Yujan said boldly.

He was right but, fuck it. I packed my belongings and ran out of the flat. I couldn't be without the only stable thing in my life at the moment which was, and always will be her. I ran until I got to her place, I told her to pack her things, we had to get out of town— possibly the country.

I left without a trace. I destroyed my cell phone, my ear piece, anything that would trace me back to Amíl. I was scared, I even felt guilty, but I was free. I caught myself smiling from ear to ear thinking about it. That's when I knew from then, things would never be the same.
