Shirley Temple

CHAPTER 1

Only one more bag to put in the trunk until we hop in the car and drive down to Jacksonville, Florida.  I’ve been waiting for this trip for 2 years and now we’re in the car at 4 in the morning waiting for 4 hours and 40 minutes to get to our destination.  I live in Georgetown, South Carolina with my mom, my dad, and my 2 older brothers.

Zoe, my best friend, and I have been dreaming of this trip but never thought it was actually going to happen.  Of course our families insisted that they come along, but the good thing is Zoe and I get our own room, which was our idea.

“Viv, I can’t wait any longer.”  Zoe groans and looks over at me.

“We’ll be boarding the ship at 10, just fall asleep every chance you get and we will be there before you know it.”  I poked her shoulder and smiled.  We will be on a cruise for 3 weeks going around the world and I couldn’t be more excited.  We will be boarding the ship at 10 am and I pray that all my shit will fit into the rooms.

Since this cruise is for 3 weeks I literally packed my whole entire closet, and I am an over packer.  I think I packed 7 bathing suits and 16 dresses I probably won’t even wear.  The only thing I fear about this trip is that there won’t be any people my age.  Yes, I hope I will find some hot guy that I can flirt with the rest of the time I will be there.  That’s what makes things fun, don’t judge me because Zoe and I enjoy it very much.

My name is Vivica but I’m also called Viv I’m 16 and my Birthday is only in 2 months, I will be a senior next year in high school.  I have rich auburn colored hair, which is natural, and I have bright blue eyes.  My hair reaches the middle of my back and is naturally curly and very smooth and silky.  Some people hate their natural hair but I prefer it much more than when I actually style it.  I’m only 5’2 and everyone seems to make fun of how short I am, but I like being short its fun.

My best friend Zoe who I also call Zo is 17 and she had her birthday 7 months ago.  She has natural sun kissed blonde hair and blue eyes.  Her hair also reaches the middle of her back in a smooth wave.  She says she hates her natural hair but I always tell her to keep it that way because I like it better then when she straightens it, it makes her hair look flat and lifeless.  Zoe is 5’5 and is medium height compared to everyone else I know.

“I’m too excited to sleep.”  Zoe pouts and drops her head on my shoulder.

“Me neither, I don’t know what to do to make the time go by faster.”  I let out a big sigh.

“Vivica, we’re here.”  I wake up to my mom opening up the car door.  I prop myself up from my previous position in the car and look outside to see a huge ship and a ton of people walking around.

I look over to Zoe and see that she is still asleep so I hit her stomach and she shoots up as fast as possible and I laugh, “We’re here.”  Her eyes widen and she looks out the window and smiles.  She hops out of the car and does a little dance, showing how excited she is.

“Let me on that boat!”  She throws her arms up in the air.  I giggle and make my way out of the car to the trunk to remove every piece of luggage.  It takes us a while to get everything out of the car and we pile it on a cart and wait in line for the cruise people to take it.  Once someone took our stuff we went through security.

After about 30 minutes later we boarded the boat and collected our room keys.  The lady at the front desk said our room was on deck 13 and our families were on deck 12, that turned out surprisingly well.  Zoe and I separated from everyone else and made our way to our room to check it out.
