5-Mystery Knocker

"Vivienne?"

"yes Mandy?" I asked ,looking over at her puzzled face.

"why is Luke always stroppy?" 

Intrigued ,she got up from her drawing table leaving Sally behind ;though she was too busy drawing a butterfly that she didn't seem to notice her sister walk off.She made her way over to me and sat down on the sofa spot next to me.

She looked up and waited patiently for an answer-"Im not sure ,Mandy.i haven't known him very long so i wouldn't have the slightest clue"i replied

But that made me think ..why was he in Florida and who was he with ? His dad ? And why has he moved away ?

As if she was reading my mind ,Mandy kept her gaze fixed on her lap while announcing"He moved here because he was sad back at him dads home .i don't know why he was sad .maybe something happened with his dad and-"

"maybe we need to all try and make him feel welcome" i say with a small smile .Mandy looked up mirroring my smile 

"yeah"

The remaining hours of the evening passed by quickly and soon it was time for me to go home .i hoped to say goodbye to Luke but he hadn't come down from the up stairs .The noise of the running shower water stopped ages ago.I wasn't worried ,besides he was probably in his room ,which ,before he came was the guest bedroom .Isolated and untouched ,the room had quickly turned into a stupendous gaming room .It possessed many shelves ,pc's ,a large bed and of course ,a study desk. The platinum white paint made it somehow seem more vast .It had been completely transformed .

And this i knew because the door was left open while Luke was taking his shower and i 'needed to use the bathroom'. I made sure to take a quick peak around so Luke wouldn't catch me single handed 

CLING!

The grandfather clock chimed 7 o'clock and almost by instinct ,i leaped off the sofa and went to the kitchen and began to pack up my bag with the homework i was doing while babysitting.

"are you going now?"

I turned and saw Sally peaking her petite head around the door frame eyeing my eagerly.

"'fraid so" I said

"but we will be sooooo bored" she said ,widening her mouth and she pronounces her O's loudly .

"Im coming back on Saturday" I announced ,laughing at her chuffed reaction. "i'm sure Luke will play with you guys"

"no hes not a girl. he doesn't know how to play barbies" She sulked but i couldn't help letting out a splurge of laugher. Disguising it ,i gave her a comforting hug .She hugged me back.

Bang bang 

On cue ,we both backed away as the blast of the front door made us twitch in fright.

who is that?

I told sally to stay where she is and slowly paced to the door .But who could it be? its not their mum because she has the key ?surely she wouldn't knock ? or even if she did it wouldn't be this loud?

i peered through the peephole and my eyes meet two guys .Not just any old guys .It was Daniel and Alex from school .What were they doing here ? Even though it was dark I could still see a glimpse of both of them wearing grins.I opened the door and am greeted rapidy ,trying hard to ignore how they kept looking me up and down -this I did not approve off.

"Hey gorgeous" said the first voice ,sounding husky and deep .I recognised it immediately as Daniel's .Daniel was the Sport teachers son so obviously be was favoured especially in PE -never the last to be chosen ,always the one to be choosing .He did all sorts of sports which gained the attention of many girls .I think he was a player but since I didn't pay attention to him much ,I wasn't really sure .

"Oh hi Vivienne " followed Alex's soft voice .Compared to Charlie ,Alex was the polar opposite. He needed the support of a firm crutch in order to walk ;wasn't very fond of PE and preferred maths instead . He was the cutest nevertheless .His bleached blond hair made his bright blue eyes be highlighted and made him look sort of like Jack frost .He wasn't a player and God knows why he was even part of Daniel's group .

He was an outsider .But in a good way .

"Um ..hey" I said quietly back ,still unsure as to why they are here 

"Luke invited us over so-" started Daniel. He halted as soon as he spotted someone or something behind me 

Behind me I could hear Footsteps .they were evidently Luke's so ,without putting my head up ,I went to grab my bag from the kitchen island ,hug Sally and Mandy a goodbye and stride in between Daniel and Alex and out the door .

The fog outside scattered confusion and sudden anger around me .what the Fuck even happened back there ? Why was Luke being such a jerk by not helping me babysit ? Only to come down when his friends knocked ? And he seemed to be in a rush -cutting Daniel's excuse as to why he was there ? What's up with him ? 

It was such a small thing and yet I was still raging inside but ..why ? Am I really this sensitive ?

Arriving home quicker than usual ,I leapt straight into bed and fell into a deep well needed sleep .

But I needed more than a couple hours of sleeping ,I needed to hibernate
