I just finished The Painted Bird, a book about a little boy in WW2. I couldn't bring myself to leave the library. I wanted to start another book, but I told my parents I was going out with friends. They wanted me to get out of the house more.
"Hey darling, I couldn't help but notice a pretty girl such as yourself." My boyfriend of a year and a half said. I jumped up and smiled.
"Hey Pony! How've you been?" I asked. He pulled me into a tight hug and kissed my cheek.
"Well I've been doing fine, but getting awfully lonely without a gorgeous girl named Y/N" he joked. I laughed, it's funny how special someone can make you feel.
"What are you reading?" I asked, Pony and I have always been into the same books. When I moved here a couple years back we met at this very library. We were both reading To Kill a Mockingbird. We've been inseparable ever since, well until a few weeks ago when I left for a trip to Chicago. Pony was crushed when he heard I'd be gone for 4 weeks. He begged me to stay but I couldn't resist, I was meeting my sister who had moved when I was just 4. She was 15 years older than me, and quiet frankly as mature as Two-bit Mathews.
"Some book I was trying to entertain myself with. Anyways, how was your trip! Was your sister nice? Could you see the sunset from her house? How was the" I kissed him gently to shut him up. He fell for it and kissed me back.
"Let's take a walk. We can talk about it when we're out of the library." I said in a hushed tone. Trying to hint to Pony that he should be a little quieter. I don't think he got it.
"Okay!" He said in a loud voice. I blushed and looked around. An older man with a long gray mustache looked up from his book and muttered something under his breath. I grabbed Pony and pulled him out the door.
We started walking, to where? I didn't really know. "This is my favorite time of the day!" Pony said in a happy tone. I looked at the pink and orange and of course course gold sky.
"You wanna sit somewhere and watch the sunset?"I asked looking around for a place we could sit and get a good view. My eyes met a tall branchy tree. Pony and I smirked at each other and ran over to it.
Pony effortlessly jumped onto a branch and swung his body around another. He was so cute when he was showing off. I flipped my hair and repeated his movements. I landed on the same branch Pony was sitting on.
"Hey, you finally made it!" He teased. I punched him in the arm. "Ouch! Why'd you do that ,princess!?" He yelled. I laughed so hard I almost fell out of the tree. Pony caught me and held me close for what felt like an eternity. We watched the sunset and slowly grew tired. Pony was securely on the tree, enough to be able to safely take a nap.
"Your lucky you can fall asleep without worrying your gonna fall off!" I yawned. Pony kissed my neck and whispered.
"I won't ever let you fall, darling." He grabbed my waist and pulled me on his lap. We fell asleep like that.
Gosh I love him💛💛🌅🌅
