She's only 17-years-old and already Mary-Ellen Donnelly is taking on the world.

The Birmingham native, who recently founded the Clover Foundation, has joined forces with UWS (United World Schools) to build four new schools for the children of Accra, Ghana.

The schools will be built in the Akuapem Hills for 180 children from the surrounding villages to attend school and gain access to free education.

Mary-Ellen has gained huge success in the latest Marvel blockbuster, Spider-Man Homecoming, starring alongside her new beau Tom Holland, who plays the title character.

The project, nicknamed Operation Accra, has attracted the attention of the media for the scale and enormity of the project which will be completed in just six weeks but the charity and Mary-Ellen are determined to complete it.

According to The Sun, the actress has stated that this project will be the first in a long line of humanitarian work she wishes to undertake in the new few years.

"This mission in Ghana is not a one-off, it's the beginning of something bigger," Donnelly revealed.

"I've always wanted to make the world a better place and the Clover Foundation is my foundation to give me a boost in starting my humanitarian work which I hope will benefit the future."

"Ghana is just the beginning. I started in Africa, one of the poorest areas of the world, because there's so much improvement needed here. I'll never be finished here but what I wanted to do was leave my mark. And these schools will definitely do that."

Any future plans for the charity have been withheld but a message on the home page of the Clover Foundation's webpage confirms there will be more upcoming projects for the charity in the near future.

THE CLOVER FOUNDATION: WHAT WE DO
–––––

The Clover Foundation was established in July 2017 by the Donnelly family.

Mary-Ellen Donnelly and her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Donnelly, founded the charity to transform the lives of vulnerable and disempowered men, women and children across the globe.

The charity aims to undertake many projects and campaigns in all seven continents in the hope that our humanitarian work can achieve peace, harmony and balance and provide a better and brighter future for the next generation.

Our first mission, Operation Accra, is a six-week construction project in Ghana building schools for the disadvantaged children of the communities in the Akuapem Hills. The purpose of building these schools is to improve education for children from marginalised communities in the Ghanaian countryside.

We have recently confirmed a further three missions in Europe and Africa and details of these will be provided closer to the time. Any volunteers who wish to sign up, please contact us for further details or keep your eyes on our social media pages for announcements of these missions.

Donations can be made on this page. Any donations made will receive gifts of thanks which vary on the amount of the donation.

We, the Donnelly family, send our thanks for showing your generosity and compassion for these causes.
