My best friend and fellow thief, Juliette May Frazier, has worked alongside me for years. She thinks her first name is stupid, so she beats up almost anyone if they call her Juliette. That's why I call her Frazier.
Now, enough backstory. Let's get to the part where the action really starts. This happened about two years ago. It was a fairly warm night for that time of year, and it felt like it would rain later that evening. Frazier and I had infiltrated a very fancy and upheld building, which was right next to a chapel (p.s. commoners weren't aloud. Neither were thieves of course, but we made it in anyways and I had quite the stash from there in my base).
An uppity aristocrat named "Lord" Alex Donhovan - he's always made sure people know the h is silent- owned that estate. That man loves his reflection so much that there was a mirror on almost every wall where he could admire himself as he passed by. Until we took a few of them of course. I have a couple in my base which is an abandoned shack on the outskirts of the city. Fairly rundown, but cozy all the same. Frazier stayed with me, still does to this day.
We were about to take his most prized possession. A fairly nice sized dragon statue made of the purest gold and the finest of jewels. This statue was about 1 foot in height and 6 inches in width. One of the most expensive things ever made. It was quite the steal, if you know what I mean, until we learned of the statue's true power. But we were only outside of his mansion and too naive as of yet to know what we were getting ourselves into.
"So, how do you think we are going to get in Darius? Any ideas?" Frazier asked me looking around.
"Well, maybe we could go through that open window two feet to your right, which you were staring at while you asked that brilliant question of yours" I replied, knowing I would get a rise out of her.
"...Rude. And I don't need your sarcasm" As she runs to the window I hear her mutter "Jackass" under breath right before she disappears. I chuckle just loud enough that she could hear me as I came through the window.
As you came through the hallway it smelled of lavender and lilac, but it seemed as if it was masking another scent that made you feel as if you were heading to an early demise. Although I decided to ignore it because of the fact that we would be out soon enough and I wouldn't have to worry about coming in here again.
"So, where do you think that stuttering moron would put his statue?" I asked walking off.
Frazier, deciding to reciprocate replies "I don't quite know Darius, why don't you ask it? Maybe it will be kind enough to tell you."
"Ha! I don't think it would quite be able to hear me from here."
As we talked I started to hear voices up ahead so I grabbed Frazier's arm and pulled her to a dark corner.
"shh! Frazier, listen."
As we waited two people came around the corner, one of them was Lord Donhovan, and the other was none other than the queen herself.
"I-I'm telling you your majesty. It will w-work." Donhovan tells the queen.
That idiot always stutters in front of higher ranked people.
"Good Donhovan, but what of our opposers?"
"W-well your m-m-majesty, our g-guards and spies have taken care of m-m-most of them."
"Good, good. And what of the artifact?"
"It is in m-my room your m-m-majesty. I will t-take you there right aw-w-way."
From this far you could see the spit fly from his swollen cow lips. They then walked off in the direction of whatever artifact thing they had.
"Hey, Darius... Is there any possibility that the "artifact" they were talking about was the dragon statue?"
"Perhaps. Let's follow them and see."
Both the thieves followed quietly behind the two aristocrats as they made their way to Lord Donhovan's quarters.
After a few minutes they rounded a corner to where there were two huge and ornate doors leading into the Lord's room. There was servant's door right next to them that seemed like a miniscule pebble compared to the mountain sized doors. The queen seemed a little shocked at his doors as well. I'm kind of wondering if her door isn't as nice, heh... she's probably a little ticked at that, and is probably gonna make hers bigger and better. Enough about his over-sized door.
We need a way into the room, and I think I know how. I look at Frazier and she has the same idea. Sneak into the servants quarters, find the door connected to his room, enter, and then steal the artifact. Also, maybe a few other things in there could be of good value.
