i was reading this book through view as a reader & was reading the ones about the mental illnesses and i realized how little post partum depression is showed in the media

nearly every mom i know ( including my mom ) has had post partum depression with one or more of their children and it's hard so i found some information about post partum depression ( i did not write any of this so credit to the owner on pinterest )

BABY BLUES VS POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION

BABIES BLUE INCLUDE

• weepiness/crying for no apparent reason

• feeling "im not like myself" or, "this isnt me"

• impatience

• irritability

• restlessness

• anxiety

• sadness

• mood changes

• poor concentration

POST PARTUM DEPRESSION INCLUDES

• difficulty sleeping, insomnia, exhaustion

• lack of energy

• low sex drive

• changes in appetite, weight loss or gain

• weepiness, excessive worry, agitation, anxiety

• feelings of inadequacy, hopelessness, despair

• guilt, sadness, fear of being alone, irritability

• difficulty concentrating, panic, anger

• scary thoughts about baby, over-concern for the baby's health

WHAT IS POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION?

postpartum is depression that may start during pregnancy or at any time up to a year after the birth of a child.

depression is a mental illness that affects a person's mood - the way a person feels. mood impacts the way people think about themselves, relate to others, and interact with the world around them.

this is more than a bad day or feeling "blue". without supports and treatment, depression can last for a long time.

SIGNS OF POSTPARTUM?

feeling sad, worthless, hopeless, guilty, or anxious a lot of the time. some feel irritable or angry. people lose interest in things they used to enjoy and may withdraw from others.

a mother OR father with postpartum may not enjoy the baby, and have frequent thoughts that they're bad parent. they may also have scary thoughts about harming themselves or their baby. although it's rare - the situation is serious and requires urgent medical care

WHO DOES IT AFFECT?

postpartum depression can affect anyone. although it's more commonly reported by mothers, it can affect any new parents - both moms and dads - and it can affect parents who adopt
