Fightin' the truth,
tryin' to hide,
but I think it's alright girl.

The waves crashed against the soft sand, the weather was dreary, following what the radio weather woman had said on the way over. I slammed the door shut as I stepped onto the sand, it forming around my bare feet. Genéve came around from the other side of the car, a smile plastered on her face.

We were alone on the beach due to the storm cloud fast approaching. I laid a beach towel down and sat on the far edge, allowing Genéve space to extend her legs. She sat in between my legs and rested her back on my chest, letting her head lay in the crook of my neck.

The wind blew our hair to the side, seagulls calling out in the distance, signaling to each other to clear the area. Genéve and I didn't care, we stayed there looking out at the restless ocean as it struck hard against itself.

My mentality hasn't changed since the hour before I formally met Genéve. Life can take back its oceans, they still give me no use.

Because I have my own ocean now, she lays in front of me. I am willing to endure every wave, every hurricane, every oil spill, all to enjoy the times of calm water. I'll stick around on my raft and witness all the beautiful creatures that swim in it and when a rescue helicopter comes to save me, I'll refuse it. I'd rather be stranded with only her than have to go through another minute without her.

Life before her wasn't living, it was hell, but I've finally found my safe haven, my ocean.
