Shadows surround me,
tease me, taunt me
They remind me
of what it was like,
to see
a real image, unalike
what I see now.
I remember those colors that streaked
over my eyes, and how
they made it seem like the world was appliqued
Nothing like the black, grey, or simply white
That I see now, every day and night
Nothing like those colors
I used to see alight
