Fisher walked into the school with his head down. He hadn't slept the night before because he didn't know what to feel. How could things take a sudden turn the way they had?
The last time he had heard Poppy's voice was her shouting in the background of the call their parents shared. Poppy's father was furious and he had demanded that Fisher stay away from her. Fisher's heart was broken but he had to put on a face. He had to be okay. For his father and for himself.
He walked over to his locker and opened it, then he opened his bag and grabbed one of his textbooks. As he shoved it into his locker, his eyes met Poppy's.
She stood down the hall at her locker, staring at him. She turned away, shutting her locker and walking away.
Fisher felt his world stand still. He didn't expect her to listen to her parents. He expected her to come running with open arms but instead...she walked away. Maybe it was best that he did the same.
He looked at the floor with furrowed brows.
"Hey," Liam stood beside him.
Fisher looked at Liam. "...Hi," he sighed.
"Poppy told me what happened."
Fisher stared at him. "About what exactly? The sex? Our parents forbidding us from seeing each other?"
"About the break up?"
Fisher froze. "We didn't...I wasn't aware that we were broken up," Fisher looked away.
"Oh...I thought you two talked-"
"I'm sorry." Fisher walked away. He couldn't believe any of it. Poppy broke up with him through her parents. He had no idea that they were over. Right after he had given himself to her.

Fisher walked into his classroom and found a seat. Not too long afterwards, Poppy walked in, sitting in front of him, that being her usual seat.
She held her breath and pretended he didn't exist, sitting straight and not saying a word.
Fisher tried to do the same but staring at the back of her head made him hurt. All of the pent up emotion began to sting his eyes. He slowly leaned over his desk. "Poppy?" He whispered fighting the tears forming in his eyes.
She bowed her head, trying her best to ignore him.
"Why are you...," he frowned," why are you doing this to me?"
Poppy sighed and lifted her head. "After class."
"I can't wait till after class. I need to know now."
Poppy ignored him, feeling her heart break with each word he uttered.
"I feel...," Fisher looked down," I feel like this is my fault but I didn't think you will listen to your parents-"
Poppy suddenly stood up. She grabbed her book and she walked out of the classroom.
Fisher sat shocked. He was about to stand and follow her but the teacher walked in and he decided to stay put, wiping the tear off his cheek.
Sadie stared at him from across the classroom.
He turned to her.
"What's going on?" She mouthed.
"We broke up," Fisher shrugged, trying to seem okay with that fact. He wished he was, but he loved Poppy. He had tried so hard for their month of dating not to like her but he fell in love with her instead.
