The bright pink sunrise spilled through the windows causing the girls eyes to flutter open. This girl was Veronica Culpepper, and she was beautiful. From her light blonde hair with different caramel streaks blended throughout, to her shimmering blue eyes. But don't be fooled by her blond hair and playful personality, her mind is something beyond compare.
Her lips curled into a small smile as she threw her arms up to stretch. That was until she realized where she was.
She turned to the guy laying in bed next to her and felt chills run through her body as she realized the shame from the acts committed the night before. Veronica quickly scrambled to gather a towel and new clothes to shower.
She headed down the corridor and threw her clothes and towel down onto the toilet. In a rushed pace she turned on the water and climbed inside. As soon as the warm water rushed over her body she took a deep shaky breath and begin washing herself.
Suddenly she felt hands, his hands, wrapped around her body. Her lips quivered. Her eyes threated tears. But she turned around only to be imstentaniosly pushed back.
James did this. Almost every other morning. She would act as into him as she could but at the end of the day Veronica would rather be anywhere but here. He began to kiss down her neck as her eyes stayed open wide with an empty face. She glanced down to see James dark brown hair fall against her body.
A half hour later it was all over.
"Love you. See you tonight." He pressed a warm kiss to her forehead and turned off the shower. He didn't even waiting for a response as he knew he would never get one. He closed the door, leaving Veronica standing in the cold crisp air let in from the window behind her. She was now 20 minutes behind schedule to get ready.
By the time she had left the bedroom and bathroom ready to continue her day James was gone. No surprise there. She quickly grabbed her things and made her way out to the street.
As soon as the door opened she felt the same feeling she had felt just moments ago in the cold damp shower. She felt somehow empty. Nothing felt real. She couldn't even bring herself to cry. She pulled her large black coat around her to cover her entire dress and hurried along.
She shoved into the crowded subway next to the sweaty guy wearing the brightest pink leggings she had ever seen and the 12 year old boy blasting rap music that said things she found almost too inappropriate for her ears.
She took a deep breath not looking forwards to standing here for the next 15 minutes, until she noticed a girl waving her over to the seat next to her.
Veronica, gave a deep sigh hustling over to the girl, quickly sinking into the worryingly warm seat.
"I'm so happy to finally see a familiar face." The girl, Katie gave a smile brushing her dark black hair from her face.
"I know i was slightly afraid i would be stuck between leggings and rap god over there."
"Oh you mean Charlie and Griffin. I swear they are real sweethearts."
"You know them?" Veronica sort of giggled along with Katie raising an eyebrow suspiciously.
"Yeah Griffin lives next to me. His mom leaves to early in the morning to take him to school so i usually help with all the procrastinated math homework and Charlie is trying to get in shape for his wedding next September."
"Any reason for the pink leggings"
Katie gives a small chuckle and shakes her head "Preference?"
From this small encounter you would think they were best friends but truth be told Veronica had never spoken to Katie more than a simple hello in all 2 of the years they had worked together at Bright Place Publishing.
Bright Place Publishing or BPP was actually an amazing place to work for Veronica. She loved it. She wasn't very high up in the ranks by any means but she got an opportunity to improve her writing and shadow the world renown author Abby Lee.
Miss.Lee was not the best boss. She was sort of thrown together in a grandma sort of fashion. She was very dedicated to her work and found great pride in every word which then meant the entire office of 23 people had to hear a 30 minute reading at least once a week. She really was sweet at heart though. She had bright yellow hair much like Veronica's but hers was showing gray at the roots. She wanted to make sure everyone was okay and happy with what was happening in her office.
"Ronnie. So good to see you hun." Mrs.Lee brought Veronica into a hug. "I hope you can get some of yesterday's book done. Half would be nice"
"Of course ma'am."
