I don't know which I was more surprised at: the fact that I could've just died, or the fact that Jeon Jungkook of BTS was carrying me bridal style while running away from a gang that was attacking a South Korean airport. My head was woozy and the world was still spinning. It didn't help that Jungkook was swerving all over the place, ducking behind food stalls and any other solid surface imaginable to avoid the showers of bullets that came towards us. He leapt over bleeding bodies and abandoned suitcases until we finally reached an exit.
As he was about to open the door and run out into the pouring rain, I whimpered softly to catch his attention. He turned his gaze down to mine, and his determined lips softened when he saw the concern in my eyes.
"My f-fri-end," I whispered as I turned my head to look back for Sana. Once I saw what was behind us, I immediately regretted my decision.
The airport was dark, due to the all of the lights that had shattered in all of the shooting mania. The only light came from flickering food stand signs and the windows that showcased the gloomy sky outside, which was still showering down heavy rain. Unfortunately, it wasn't dark enough to hide all of the bodies that laid dead on the floor. When my eyes caught sight of them, I cried out weakly and buried my head into Jungkook's toned shoulder. I felt him readjust his grip on my light body before whispering out soothingly into my ear.
"They are here," he stuttered out in broken English.
When I turned my head questioningly, he shook his own head in frustration with himself.
"I mean, they are coming," he corrected.
I let out the faintest of a smile before the sudden break in gunshots stopped. Jungkook's eyes widened and he pushed his way out of the door. He stood under the overhang for a minute, just holding me and staring out at the pouring rain. I felt his toned chest move up and down as he took in a deep breath and let out a loud exhale. I delicately raised my heavy head and gave him the most reassuring look I could muster up. When the corners of his mouth curved up into a loving smile, I let my own lips form a frail grin.
He turned his attention firmly back to the slick pavement that stretched on for what seemed like miles. I could tell he was searching for something through the thick curtain of rain that poured down, but I couldn't find the strength to lift my head and find out what he was so desperately looking for. Instead, I turned my attention to the man who was still holding me securely in his arms.
Jungkook was lightly panting, most likely from all the sprinting he had done in the airport. His forehead was slightly sweaty, and the ends of his hair stuck to his forehead. The black coat he had been wearing when he'd first arrived at the airport had disappeared, which left him in an almost transparent white shirt that showcased his defined chest. I wanted to reach out and touch his abs, just to see if they rippled. Wait, what? Did I really just think that?
As I was trying to remove my unclean thoughts from my head, Jungkook's eyes lit up and he gently squeezed the side of my body he was supporting to get my attention. My eyes shot up to his at the action, and he grinned sheepishly before nodding his head towards a small jet on the runway. The tiny aircraft was about half the size of a normal plane and was barely visible through the fog that was caused by the rain.
When my gaze returned to Jungkook, he opened his mouth to speak, but then he frowned and cocked his head to the side. He was unbearably cute when he was thinking about how to communicate in English.
"Let's get it?" he questioned, asking with his eyes if he had said the right thing or not.
I laughed out loud for the first time since I'd arrived in South Korea.
"Yes, let's get it," I giggled, nodding my heavy head the best I could.
Jungkook carefully adjusted his grip on me one more time, making sure that he didn't jostle my broken leg. I tightened my arm's grip around his neck with one arm and used the other arm to pull my coat's hood over my dark hair. I nodded to Jungkook one last time before he broke into a sprint through the freezing rain.
