The doorbell echoed through the house. Andy ran off to answer it and another deep male voice floated upstairs to Dawn. From the tone of the greeting she realised they knew each other.
While sitting in her room alone Dawn noticed one of her shoes had fallen out of her case and sliding off the bed, being extra careful not to put any weight on her rather bruised and swollen ankle she shimmied across the floor on her bum towards the suitcase. Pulling her brand new pair of scarlet red six inch heels out of her suitcase she slipped her good foot into one and let the other dangle from the toes of her injured foot. With her legs stretched out in front of her while sitting on the carpet she admired her new shoes and was really glad they actually fitted, well the one did, the other one she’d have to wait till the swelling went down before she could slide her foot into it properly. It had been a compulsive buy, she hadn’t tried them on, saw them in the window, rushed in and bought them and had never worn them until now. She couldn’t fathom why she’d packed them in her suitcase, in her secret escape to leave her home before her family realised she was gone.
Dawn eyed the mirror in the corner of her room and struggled up onto her knees, holding her injured ankle up in the air and balancing on her good leg she crawled over to the mirror. It was while she was in motion that Andy entered the room, he’d left her door open when he’d run downstairs and was very amused at the sight of Dawn crawling along the carpet at a peculiar angle with her bum in the air.
“Dawn!” he shouted trying hard to hold back the laughter in his voice, “What are you doing?”
Dawn got such a fright she lost her balance and fell over sideways. Lying on her side with one shoe off and one shoe on, her wide eyes and open mouth, gave her that injured dog expression, and then she blushed when she was confronted with two men, who were absolutely identical staring down at her grinning.
“I …. Umm …. Trying on my shoes.” She stammered.
“While you’re in my care you definitely won’t be wearing those heels, Sweets. I won’t have you breaking your neck on my watch.” Andy said grinning.
“Can’t see the other shoe fitting for a while anyway, Dawn.” James said pointing to her swollen ankle, “By the way, my name is James, and I’m very pleased to make your acquaintance.” He said as he stepped forward and offered his hand.
Dawn felt ridiculous lying on the floor and even more so when James shook her hand.
“I think it would be a good idea if we put your patient back to bed Andy.” James said, winking at his brother.
"Right, let’s do that now,” Andy said as he bent down to pick Dawn up. James helped and between them they lifted her up and carried her back to the bed.
James tripped over Dawn’s sandal she had worn when she arrived and lost his balance. It had a domino effect and all three fell onto the bed with little Dawn being sandwiched between the two hulky men.
Dawn squealed and the twins quickly jumped up leaving Dawn feeling a little flustered. She had never in all her life been sandwiched between such good looking guys and identical twins too; who would’ve guessed her life would suddenly take such an upturn.
The twins laughed when they saw the expression on Dawn’s face; apart from the blush that coloured her cheeks she looked confused.
“What’s wrong Dawn?” Andy asked.
“Are you okay? We didn’t hurt you, did we?” James asked.
Dawn looked from one to the other trying hard to tell them apart. Just who was Andy and who was James?
“I take it you realise this is my twin brother James,” Andy said at last, hoping to remove the confused expression from her face.
“Well, yes, I can see you’re twins, so you must be brothers, but I’m trying to figure out how to tell you apart, you’re so snap to each other, it’s like I’m seeing double.
The twins laughed.
“James has bigger feet than me,” Andy said chuckling.
“Just proves, who’s bigger in the family jewels department then Andy.” James commented punching his brother in the arm.
“Hey my feet are a regular man size eight, not a whopping great ten like yours and besides, it’s not the size but how you handle it that counts. Not so Dawn?” Andy asked looking at Dawn.
Dawn felt herself blush from the tips of her toes to her eyelashes, this was way out of her comfort zone, seeing as she was still very much a virgin in that department.
“Look now Andy, you’ve made your guest uncomfortable.” James said scolding his brother playfully.
“Well I think while I am visiting maybe you should both walk bare feet so I can tell you apart.” Dawn said smiling, trying to shake off her embarrassment.
James laughed, “We could always just walk around without boxers on. I’m sure it would be a lot easier than trying to compare our feet.” He said winking at Dawn.
“James, that’s enough, now you’re making Dawn uncomfortable.” Andy scolded his brother. “Dawn would you like me to help you into the shower now?”
“I’m sure I can cope thanks Andy, if you would just pass my crutches, I will be fine thanks.”
