Chapter 1

"Well..."

My mum began on her words flicking through the junk mail she had received from work, I rolled my eyes as she obliviously read over the long, tiring paragraphs and forgot to finish the conversation she annoyingly started

K:Well...?
She flicked her eyes up to mine pausing for a second before realising my confusion

M:Oh right, Yes! Kylie i need to talk to you about something
K:Well... I'm here mum whats up?
I crossed my arms together as she swallowed on her words, sighing uncomfortably

M:Ive been offered a job
I crossed my eyebrows leaning against the table before her
K:Don't you already have a job?
M:I mean, I've been offered a higher paid job
K:So...?

She sighed in annoyance at how i reacted to the "good news" she was currently telling me, i hardly ever heard from my mum anymore because she was so caught up in her work and has been like that since the day my dad left her, so the words "higher paid" weren't really a huge deal to me like they would be to any other normal teenager, the money meant nothing to me, i just wanted the old her back

M:Look, Kylie
She stood from her position lifting the glasses from her eyes and gently placing them on the wood before her
M:I know things have been hard for you lately...
She reassured me holding my hands in her's smiling warmly

M:But things will all work out in the end, this is an incredible opportunity for me and...
K:What is it mum? Just tell me

I could tell something was on her mind as she tricked me with her hesitation, I sighed under my breath sipping the water beside me lightly
M:The job isn't here... its in America
K:America!?

I almost spat out my drink coughing loudly as she gently tapped my back
M:Kylie are you okay?
I held out my hand for her to pause on her words as I finished my coughing fit, wiping the water from around my mouth and breathing out heavily

M:I know this is a lot for you to take in
K:A lot this is huge!? What do you expect me to do? come with you? Because i cant leave my friends mum and what about uni?!

My mind went completely blank as the questions flooded through my brain and out of my mouth uncontrollably

M:You don't have to leave, I'm only out there for a few months and then all the work I'm taking on will continue here, its just for the beginning purposes

K:So where do you expect me to go then? Cause I'm not living with dad and that bitc...
M:Kylie!

She looked at me sternly cutting me off before i said anything i would regret, after my dad left my mum he was quick to find someone new and all of us even my mum know that shes clearly using him for his money, and I couldn't stand her for that single reason, i can't even be around her for a minute without wanting to rip my hair out let alone living with the woman!

K:Im not living with dad mum
M:And I'm not asking you too
K:Well, theres no where else for me to go
I sighed loudly shaking my head trying to hold back the frustration i was truly feeling

M:Actually, there is... i think the best option for you would be living with your brother
K:My brother? Are you out of your mind!
M:Ky Ive already spoke to him about it, it took a lot of persuasion but he's kindly agreed and i think it will be great for the both of you

K:Mum I haven't seen Joe in 4 years
M:So?
K:So, i can't live with the person that doesn't even bother to talk to me
M:Hey look we both know that parts not all on him...

I sighed knowing she was right, my brother left when he was 18 to pursue his career as a band manager, to be completely honest nobody not even my parents thought he would even be 1% as successful as he has become now, but his success, just like my mums and dads meant that I never had the chance to see any of my family

M:Look honey its only for a few months, i think you'll love it there you can go to all the concerts get a little bit of experience

She nudged my shoulder knowing the envy i had grown over my brothers job, i had wanted to do something like that since the moment words could speak from my mouth, but once again, like always, he got there before me

K:Yeah like he'll let me get involved with that
M:You never know, look ky I'm not asking you to like what's happening I'm just asking you to accept it, for me...

I thought over what she was questioning in my mind, agreeing to this would be agreeing to not seeing my mum for 3 months and living with the brother i awkwardly haven't seen in 4 years, this sounded like a disaster...
