"Monday morning", Jade thought as she peered out the window watching with great amusement the break of dawn on the horizon. “Another day in the dog eat dog world of high school" she thought with great trepidation. Her alarm clock then went off drawing her from her thoughts. Being an insomniac she never got much sleep. She usually just laid in bed awake her many thoughts, good or bad, consuming every atom of her body. Pulling herself out of bed with great reluctance, she got ready for school.

She walked downstairs and into the kitchen. Her mother differing greatly in personality to Jade greeted her with a warm "Good morning Jade". Plastering a fake smile on her face that seemed to become quite routine to Jade when addressing her mother she replied with a simple and low "Hi". One syllable answers also became routine in answering her mother's never ending questions. They then ate breakfast in an awkward silence, Jade enjoyed every minute of this serene silence all too much. Finishing her breakfast Jade picked up her school bag and walked towards the front door. “Have a nice day “her mother yelled to her. She replied with one of her usual one syllable answers, "Thanks" in an almost inaudible tone. She shut the door pulled out her IPod and chose an empowering song from her playlist as she walked to school.

Upon reaching her destination she walked with her head down all the way to her locker. "If I can get to my locker and to class without making eye contact with Rebecca , that might save me from a gruesome beating after school". She pondered on these thoughts as she walked briskly towards her locker. She got there and thank fully Rebecca was nowhere in sight. "Speaking of the devil" Jade thought as she saw Rebecca walking like the hall was a catwalk. With her two minions at her side Kimberlee and Jody and her gorgeous boyfriend Kaleb not trailing far behind, Rebecca walked exerting upmost confidence that it demanded everyones undivided attention.

Jade observed Kaleb with amusement thinking " She doesn’t deserve you, you would be better off with someone like me ". At that thought Jade chuckled with amusement with herself. Why should she even so much as entertain that thought, Kaleb would never give her the time of day. As Rebecca drew nearer to her locker, Jade decided to run to homeroom to avoid an early morning altercation with miss popularity. Arriving at her first period class, Algebra, she found a desk at the back where she felt most comfortable. She then let out breath she didn’t even know she was holding in.

Awaiting the arrival of the teacher she peered out the glass window completely zoning as her thoughts consumed her once again. She was jerked back to reality by the rain drops that pelted the glass windows with an amusing rage that sent involuntary shivers up her spine. She hadn’t even realized that the teacher had entered the class. She referred to him as ' the teacher' because she never found it as much of a necessity to learn teacher's name. She was out of her seat and heading for the door a soon as the bell rung.

Next she had English, she loved English with passion, and it was the only class she didn’t dread going to. Writing was one of the few ways Jade could express her deepest thoughts. She was an amazing writer with such a zeal that enabled her write with such vivid detail. Her writing actually enabled the reader to visualize the scene she was trying to portray. This was also the only class where she chose to sit up front. They were analyzing Shakespeare's thrilling tale "Romeo and Juliet". She didn’t necessarily enjoy the sappy deep affection the two main characters showed to one another. Jade was more entranced by the ending when Juliet kills herself because she can’t go on without her love. That is only part that truly interests her, in fact she reads and re reads that section repetitively almost becoming obsessed with it .

The rest of the day went by quite quickly. It usually seems to fly by quickly because she is not easily excited by anything that seemed to excite small minded teenagers of todays society. Deep in thought as she walked home she almost tripped over a bush luckily she caught her balance and continued walking. When she got home she saw that she was going to be alone for a while because her mother had written a note informing her that she had to work late.

Jade then slowly walked upstairs to her bedroom completely exhausted. She then opened her diary. Well it wasn’t really a diary. I was just a book where she wrote down inner most thoughts. If she didn’t do this on a regular basis she most definitely would have gone insane a long time ago. Her mind seemed to be constantly at work observing every bit of the world and trying to decipher every possible meaning of even the simplest things. This well-worn black book was her only friend and the only person scratch that only thing she put her entire trust into. It was her one and only solace.
