It was a cold, dismal day at work as per usual almost no one was in the café. Y/N was bored out of her mind standing at the counter waiting, watching, hoping. Her eyes wandered about the shop observing the few people sitting, talking, and altogether enjoying this rainy Saturday morning. Eventually Y/N heaved a heavy sigh and turned away, heading into the back to help her friend Ella with the baking. "Heya El. Need any help?" She said trying to be cheery. "Yeah actually. Can you grab that bag of sugar over there?" Ella's accented voice rang out. "Where?" Y/N asked not quite knowing where 'there' was. Suddenly a pale arm appeared from around the corner pointing to the table to Y/N's right. "Thanks." She mumbled. The hand then gave her a thumbs up. "No problem Y/N/N." Ella's voice full of sarcasm. Y/N walked to the table and grabbed the sugar and started making her way to the back when she heard the bell ring. "Hey El someone's here I'll give you the sugar after I take care of them." Y/N then set the sugar down and made her way to the counter ignoring Ella's annoyed mumbling.
Once she arrived at the counter her Y/E/C eyes met a pair of sweet brown ones and she instantly turned her scowl into the fake smiled she used when serving the rare customer. "Hello sir, how can I help you?" Her voice a false facade of happiness. "Uh yes I'll have one small house special coffee, and a double chocolate chip cookie please." His voice was heavily accented like Ella's, and Y/N noticed the way he ran his hand through his disheveled, curly, blond hair. "Ok, that will be $4.70." He hands her his card and she swipes it and hands it back to him. "Alright, can I have a name for the order." She asked voice still feigning a cheeriness that never was. "Uh yeah Thomas Sangster."
"Ok Thomas I'll get that right out for you." Y/N turned away to prepare his drink as she heard a "Thank you." Come from the boy behind her. She was shocked at first because people normally just grunt their thanks and walk away without another word. But not this man.
"So, what is your name?" Thomas questioned. Trying to start up a conversation
Y/N hesitated for a moment unsure if he was serious. "Y/N, Y/N Y/L/N." she finally said preparing his order.
"That's a lovely name for a lovely girl." He flirted. "Thanks." Y/N said an earnest smile appearing on her face for the first time since she had started this job. Y/N grabbed his cookie and placed it in the normal pastel blue bag. She then grabbed his now finished coffee and handed both to the man who she now got a better look at. He was an attractive young man much taller than herself. His eyes smiling but still she could see the drowsiness in them. He was wearing a brown bomber jacket, a gray and white striped tee, and a pair of tight fitting jeans. Looking much more groomed than Y/N's Y/H/C, Y/H/L hair pulled back in a messy ponytail. Her apron covering a ratty T-shirt that said 'Wanted: Food, coffee and a good book', and distressed black skinny jeans. "Well Thomas your order is prepared. I guess this is goodbye." Y/N said feeling slightly disappointed, but she didn't let it show on her face. He took the items and sent a smile "The café doesn't seem very busy and you seem bored. Would you like to sit with me?"
Y/N's face flushed "Uh no I don't want to be a bother and I would have to ask my boss first." She was so caught up talking to him she didn't notice Ella standing behind silently cheering her on until, "Hey Y/N take a break you've been working your ass off, you deserve it. I'll take over" she walked over and whispered in Y/N's ear "Go get'em girl." Ella then smiled sweetly at the fellow Brit and shoved Y/N out of the way.
"Well you have clearance from your boss now, and you wouldn't be a burden love, I would be glad of the company. I'm here alone anyway." Thomas said raising and eyebrow questioningly. "S-sure give me a sec." Y/N stuttered out. Thomas nodded and walked towards a small two-person table in the back corner. Y/N slipped off her apron and fixed her hair. She glanced over at her best friend. Ella just nodded her head in Thomas's direction. Y/N took a deep breath in and made her way to the table. When she arrived, Thomas motioned for her to sit down. "I like the shirt." Thomas noted.
"Thanks." She said flustered.
"Well seeing as you like books so much what's your favorite book currently?"
Y/N though for a minute then she remembered the one book she has read more times than any other. "Y/F/B."
"I haven't read that one yet." He said taking a sip of his drink.
"Really!?" Y/N exclaimed shocked and she started ranting about how amazing the book is and how well the author wrote the characters and their personalities. As well as about the whole plot. She basically tells him all but the ending and a few minor details. "It's just such an amazing book you have to read it." Y/N finally finishes. Thomas chuckles. "You really like that book huh?" She nods then stops, her eyes widening "Oh shit I rambled, didn't I? Sorry. I've probably just bored you to death. I'll go now." Y/N starts to stand to leave. She feels a hand grab her wrist.
"No stay I didn't mind, I found it kinda cute. I may just have to read it now." Thomas said chuckling again. Y/N's face flushed Again. 'With how much I'm blushing I'm surprised he hasn't said anything or just left.' She thought. Thomas' hand had moved from her wrist to her hand intertwining their fingers. "Sit." He says his voice soft and barely over a whisper. Y/N hesitates for a moment then slowly complies. "Well since I just rambled my ass off. Why don't you tell me about yourself? Like what's a Brit like you doing in America?" She says slightly regaining her composure. That then crumples when she sees his hand intertwined with hers. 'S-shiitt.' She feels her face heating up and tries to hide in her hair hoping Thomas hasn't realized. He has. He smirks before starting his story.
"Well I'm here to begin filming for 'The Maze Runner.' The director, Wes, gave us a bit of a break so I decided to get a coffee and explore town just a little." Thomas stopped for a moment thinking. "I've been stopped a few times already by some fangirls who wanted pictures. Not that I mind, I really don't, but, I've been really stressed. So, sitting here talking to you is a nice break from the schedule."
"Well I'm shocked you chose me to speak to. I mean out of all the people in the café. I mean there's not a lot of people in here but, still." Y/N said in a state of awe. "Anywho you said you were filming 'The Maze Runner' correct?"
Thomas nodded.
"I love the book series!"
(If you said that was your Favorite book then this is the response for you
Y/N: Oh, right I already said that.
T: -chuckles-.)
Y/N and Thomas continued to talk. His coffee was empty, and the cookie gone after he split it with Y/N. Eventually he checked his phone. Thomas lets out a small groan. "I've gotta go Dylan wants me to grab lunch for him and the rest of the crew. Here hand me your phone."
Y/N reaches in her pocket, grabs her phone and hands it to Thomas. After a minute he hands it back.
"I hope you don't mind I put my number in it. So, I can keep in touch with you."
"T-that's fine." Y/N stuttered out face flushed.
"Bye Y/N." Thomas says standing up and placing a small kiss on her cheek before sauntering out the door.
Y/N sits there for a moment stunned but then shakes her head and walks to the counter only to be met by a grinning Ella and an even bigger grin on Ally, Ella's redheaded little sister.
"Oh. My. Goodness did the Thomas Brodie Sangster just give you his number and kiss your cheek." Ally's blue eyes shining with excitement. "You lucky duck.!" Ella nods in agreement. A small ding draws Y/N's attention away from their rambling.
T: "Hi Y/N I had a great time talking to you I hope we can do it again soon."
"Well I'm free tomorrow at lunch and if you're free I can take you to my favorite place." :Y/N
T: "I'm free as well. See ya then!"
Y/N shuts off her phone grinning like a mad man. 'Maybe today wasn't so bad after all.'
(A/N This is only part one to a hopefully multiple part story. Feel free to leave feedback and other stuff. Until then Buh-Bye.)
