Their was a slight bustle around us, and yet an awkward silence around us four. I glanced to both June and Julian, they were strolling quiet casually beside each other. Willow stuck close to me, since she witnessed Watcher she has been more alert around June and Julian.
"Why don't we just hit up our house, it's closer than the mall." June asked, no one in particular.
Willow shot me an alarmed look, but I just patted her arm to calm her down. "June...lets not make this into like...a slumber party or whatever."
"Slumber party...I've never had one! Let's have one, were gonna have one, the thre-four of us." June ignored everything but the words slumber party, typical June.
That was how me and Willow ended up at June and Julian's once more. Sat in their vintage, creepy living room. Willow and me looked around, wondering why we were scared of a girl our age. Maybe it was her scarily demanding tone? Or the way her behavior could snap back and forth?
"Hey, Willow I wanna show you around-come with me." June abruptly said, standing with a wide smile.
Willow stared with widened eyes, sneaking a look to me. I had a bad feeling but subtly nodded to tell her it would be alright. Besides, what could June do? Nothing bad I don't think.
That left me with Julian, sitting quietly and in an almost obedient manner. He stared down, his eyes gleaming unsurely. I tore my eyes away and watched Willow hesitantly leave with June. I felt bad leaving her with, of all people, June.
Clearing my throat, I caught Julian's attention and smiled at him. "Hey Julian, could you show me the bathroom? I can't remember." I honestly just needed to get away for a bit.
Julian shyly nodded and got up, gesturing for me to follow, which I do. As I walked behind him I couldn't help but take notice on how he hung his head a bit and shuffled down the hall.
I assumed we arrived when he stopped, I muttered a quick thank you and stepped in.
I waited a few seconds before peeking out, I had been reminded of Julian's room when I was walking behind him-and the sudden curiosity brought out the worst in me.
Quickly and quietly, I snuck out of the pristine bathroom and stalked towards the upstairs. Down the hall, right to the door next to June's pink one.
Where was June and Willow though? I brushed off the worrisome thought for now and reached to the door knob-the pair not being here bought me time.
My hand fumbled with the door knob, I was scolding myself hardcore, but by no means stopping. It was of course unlocked so I carefully and quietly pushed open the wooden door.
My heart was beating erratically and I was practically trembling. My eyes adjusted to the dark of the room and I was surprised and a bit disappointed I'll admit.
There was nothing out of the ordinary, Julian's room was painted navy and was fairly bare with simple necessities. Why had I expected something...bad? Julian was a sweet guy and I didn't even know what I expected to find.
Finding no harm in doing a little poking, I entered the room and gently shut the door behind me. My eyes scanned the room as I walked gingerly to the center of it. It felt very Julian actually.
There was a photo of his family on the wall, or I assumed it to be of his family. There was a beautiful, blond mom who looked a lot like June and Julian and was smiling brightly, a father with features that were gentle but nothing really resembling June and Julian. The two identical kids were very cute and definitely June and Julian.
June with pigtails and a happy beam sat in her mother's lap, her small hand holding Julian's. Julian was standing beside his sitting mother and sister, in front of his father. He had a small, shy smile and a cute suit that matched his father's.
It was really heartwarming, I couldn't help but grin as I felt the joy from the photo. They must've been very close...I couldn't help but wonder how the father died. I brushed it aside and gazed a few moments longer at the photo, Julian and June were really cute kids, and it made sense for them to be so good-looking with parents like those.
Moving on, I laughed and approached a poster that was rather poorly taped to the wall. I flattened it and pressed the tape down so it'd stay up right. It was of Doctor Who, I never would have guessed he was that much of a dork.
I did a one-eighty of the room and shrugged, nothing. Walking the length of his bed I hesitated before sitting down on it. This was awkward and very creepy, in this instance I was doing no better than Watcher.
I got up and walked to his desk, a rather organized desk space. Pencils and pens put in a little can beside a small stack of papers, it looked to be homework. A sleek, silver laptop sat in the center of the desk, the lid half down but a dim light still beaming from the screen.
Should I...?
Without thinking much, I pulled out the swivel chair and sat down. I pushed up the screen and scooted closer. “Google...untitled document...and ‘are disorders hereditary’?” I muttered his current tabs and hummed with interest.
Those were really interesting, and now I felt really nosy. Maybe I should’ve stopped and got back to the living room...but the itching curiosity was too much.
First, I clicked off Google to the ‘are disorders hereditary?’ tab. Eyeing the search results and frowning with concern mixed into confusion. Why was Julian looking up something like this, then a rational thought crossed I mind. For class of course, he probably had a project on hereditary disorders.
With my thinking on this being a project I assumed that the document tab held his notes and stuff. Disregarding it, I pushed away from the desk and spun the chair in a circle.
There wasn't much to do, I had thought they were wealthy because of the house, but I guess the house being old doesn't make it worth a lot. Julian was either really simple or the family wasn't as rich as I had assumed. Standing up, I pushed the chair back and began to walk towards the door.
However, I heard someone coming down the hall on the other side of the door. I got an overwhelming feeling of fear.
