Original: Currently rewriting the whole story, but this was what was originally up
You close the door
Make your way to me slowly
Lay down next to me
Trace the outlines of my face
This wasn’t a part of the plan
I was just on my way
But you make me feel…comfortable
A dark cloud hung over the sky, an ominous warning. Driving slowly down the bumpy road, Iridessa Gillette scowled at the sky. She really wanted to reach at least a motel before it began to rain. “Come on, keep going, you have to get away. Last time was way too close,” she muttered under her breath, wincing as she remembered almost obtaining a best friend in the town she used to call home. “So close.” Her engine sputtered wearily as it continued to inch down the road. “Come on, just a bit longer,” she pleaded.
Turning the corner, she sighed in relief when she saw the neon flashing lights that read: Motel and Bar. “Let’s go, you can do it.” Finally, she pulled into the half full parking lot. Sending a prayer of thanks to heaven, she got out of the car and slowly approached the front door. Peeking in from the window, she spotted a bunch of guys just hanging out. Sighing reproachfully at the lack of female population, she entered the bar. Immediately, the talking ceased as everyone stared at her. Glaring at them, she stomped over to the counter.
“Do you have room for one night?”
The man looked at her strangely, “Yeah, 50 bucks for a pretty lady like you. You want a room with a lock or no lock?”
“With a lock you perv,” she snapped.
“Don’t have to be touchy,” he drawled out, obviously well into his cups for the night. “Here’s ya key, ya need any help to carry in ya luggage? I got me some nice strong men who would be willing to help ya.”
“No thanks,” she bit out. The man nodded, blinking his bloodshot eyes. Dessa waited until he turned away before slipping the key back into its slot, there was no way she was going to stay here for the night. Internally groaning, she walked out the door and the heavens decided at that very moment to let loose its thunder, lightning, and rain.
“Oh great,” she walked over to her car and yanked the door open. Sliding in, she inserted the key and turned the ignition. The engine sputtered, and then died. “Oh shish.” Getting out again, she lifted the front and tried to take a look, but it was too dark and the rain was pouring.
“Hey lady, you might want to come in for the night,” a voice called out.
Half expecting Mr. Drunk Guy, or at least some other drunk, she turned and stopped. Leaning against the door frame was a man with dark hair and intense eyes. Not drunk but very much sober. “I’ll fix up your car for you when the storm passes.”
“I don’t need your help,” she snapped.
The figure chuckled and walked towards her, heedless of the rain. Bending over slightly, he met her eyes, “Well you still need to wait for the storm to pass.”
Glaring defiantly at him, she slammed the car door and stomped away. The man laughed behind her, “I wouldn’t go in from the front door looking like that.”
Exasperation slammed into her, “Then what would you do?” Giving her a lazy grin, he pointed at the side door. Dessa was seriously about to give this annoying man a piece of her mind when he pushed her into the motel. "What is wrong with you?!"
