Jayne's POV

I had been asleep all day. The events of yesterday really threw a plot twist into life as I knew it. I was hungry and when I got up to look in the mirror, my naturally wavy hair was everywhere and my light brown eyes looked unrested. I was a zombie and I trudged down the stairs where dinner had already been made.

We were having a family dinner tonight and my mom sat at the head of the table with my brother across from her, his girlfriend beside him and Valerie beside her. I sat next to my mother and we ate with small conversation floating about. Everything was running smoothly and when the doorbell rang, my mom got up to answer it. I smiled.

I'm so glad she's taking the initiative. She's doing great.

I was really into my chicken salad when my mom came back into the room, puzzled. It was about 5:30 p.m. and behind her stood Mike and Vic. Vic looked at Valerie who looked at Taylor who looked at Damion who stared at Vic with watchful eyes.

"Valerie and Jayne, you know these guys?" I refused to speak to Mike and he looked at me longingly. I just continued eating.

"Yeah, mom. They're friends." Damion grunted and muttered something that was hard to hear. Taylor flicked him in the side of his head and he stopped.

"Yeah, we didn't know you guys were having dinner. This is just really bad timing, We'll leave." They were on their way out and my mom just had to be a good host.

"No! Stay for dinner, I insist!" Before they could retaliate, there was an extra chair between my mother and Valerie and Mike took the empty seat next to me. My mom was good at making things awkward without noticing, but the wide smile on her face showed she was proud of her hospitality. We all ate chicken salads but I couldn't take it anymore. I opened up my phone and sent out a group text to Vic, Mike, and Valerie. Three phones went off, and three were answered.

"What!?" That was the text I sent.

"Sorry we had no idea you guys were having dinner." That was Mike.

"You didn't bother to ask!?" Valerie.

"Well Mike needed to talk to you, Jayne." Vic.

"Well I don't need to talk to Mike!"

I tapped out the conversation and locked my phone. The tension was rising in the air and I wanted to leave the room. My mom seemed to notice something was off about the situation.

"So, what are you boys doing here?" She pushed her bowl away and I noticed Damion still eyeing them suspiciously.

"Well, uh, I'm Vic, and that's my brother Mike." Mike waved. "He wanted to talk to Jayne about something but this was obviously bad timing." She nodded and turned her head toward us.

"Do you guys need to talk?"

"Yes."

"No."

The offer went into the air and I shot it down as soon as Mike grabbed it and I stared at him coldly.

"Go in the other room and talk. We'll be over here." I let out a groan and pushed my chair out before leading him into the family room. I stood and backed away when he stood next to me. He only followed and I crossed my arms.

"Jayne, about yesterday-"

"Don't tell me you can explain."

"But Jayne-!"

"No, Mike!" I was whisper shouting so we wouldn't be overheard. "Why wouldn't you tell me something like that? You're like someone completely different now and I don't even know who!? You smoke?" I was in complete and utter shock. I didn't know who he was anymore!

"Jayne just stop! It was last year and one of my friends got some marijuana from his brother. I'm not addicted or anything! It's just a relaxer for when I get stressed! I have to keep up with everything in and out of school and sometimes it just feels better to take your mind off it." He whisper shouted at me back and fell back onto the couch. His head was in his hands and I sat next to him.

"Honestly, I get why this bothers you. You're the good girl who's never been known for doing anything bad but kinda sorta recently just became hot." He muttered the last part under his breath but I giggled when I heard it anyways. He picked up his head to look into my eyes. His were catching the light and for some reason there were butterflies dancing around in my stomach but I didn't know why.

"But Jayne, if this really means you don't know who I am anymore then were we ever really friends?" He asked the question and I could tell that me feeling betrayed had hurt him a little bit.

"I just don't get why you had to hide it from me. I might be a good girl but I'm not a baby, Mike." He nodded his head.

"I just didn't want to scare you off." He sounded disappointed but by now, I was over it. I was over the fact that he had done some drugs and I was over the fact that I never did anything bad. What I couldn't get past was this feeling in the pit of my stomach that I got when I looked at him.

Ugh! How do they deal with this in the movies!?

I couldn't tell why I did it, but I yanked him in by his shirt and kissed him, hard. The kiss was short. It was too short for him to have enough time to react or for me to even think twice about it. When I pulled away, my grip on his shirt was tight and I was scanning his eyes for a response. His face seemed to go from shock to hunger in a matter of seconds.

Soon, we were back on each other. Our lips danced happily, slowing down and speeding up together and my eyes fluttered shut. We did this for a little and I gasped into the kiss when he bit my bottom lip. My eyes shot open and we pulled away. I was out of breath and he wasn't. His suprised face relaxed into a smirk.

"Let me guess, first kiss?" I turned a dark red and tried to laugh it off.

"Yeah. Let me guess, not yours?" He laughed and shook his head no. He helped me up off the couch and we walked back into the dining room.

The rest of dinner went smoothly and when it was over, Mike and Vic wet home. I was yanked up the stairs by my older sister who shut the door to her room. She plopped down on her bed and brought me down to sit on the bed with her.

"You kissed Mike!" She was elated and was waiting for me to spill the details. I turned beet red and tried to keep my secret.

"Ha, uh nooo." I was an awful liar.

"Don't lie! You've got the same face I had when I kissed Dean King in the seventh grade! It was my first kiss and now this was yours!"

"Wait, you kissed Dean King?"

"Meh, it was before he became an asshole. But seriously! Tell me about it." She was leaned in and I got comfortable.

"Well, we fought a little, made up, and I felt something I've never felt. For some reason he just looked so... breathtaking just sitting there stressed out like that. I don't know why but I grabbed his shirt and kissed him." I twiddled my thumbs awkwardly and she kept listening.

"Oh no, that can't be all that happened." She knew that wasn't the whole story.

"Well we separated and then we kissed again. But it was hungrier and wilder and as soon as I got comfortable with it he bit my lip and it suprised me. That was the end of it." Valerie had her eyebrows raised and I just waited for her answer.

"Well damn, who would've known my little sister would get with a bad boy lip biter?" We erupted into laughter and she spoke again when we settled down. "But really, congrats on the first kiss, I'm sure it was special." She winked at me and I left my sister alone in her room and shut the door behind her. I made my way down the hall, to my own room but was stopped by Damion. He was walking out his room with Taylor.

"Did you kiss him?" He eyed me skeptically and I furiously shook my head no with wide eyes. He stared down at me a little before walking off with an 'Okay.'

"You so did." Taylor was half smiling at me as she whispered the three words in my ear when she walked by. I looked over my shoulder and she was walking down the stairs looking back at me mouthing 'I won't tell.' I smiled and closed the door to my room. I flopped down on the bed and drifted off into a peaceful sleep.
