The divorce

As I sit at the table across from Hal all I can think of is how I am finally free. Not how I'm angry that he cheated on me, not that I'm upset that he lied about it just free. I can finally have a life, a life I've wanted for twenty years. I'm also thinking about how unlucky Penelope is to have to deal with Hal- she doesn't know what's coming. He acts like he is in love with you until he gets bored and then he uses your secrets and your weaknesses against you and there is nothing you or anybody can do about it.

30 minutes later after the divorce is finalized

"I'm going to take Betty out today so don't wait up for her because she will probably end up sleeping over as well."
"Fine Hal, she is your daughter as much as she is mine."
"What so no argument of how you want her to be with you?" Hal said with surprise and sarcasm in his tone.
"No Hal, just take Betty out and leave me alone."
"Fine."
I just stood there and watched Hal and Betty leave and not turn back. I started walking out of the court room when over the road at the supermarket I saw someone I never thought I would be happy to see.
I walked over to him and realized he was with jughead so I quickly turned around trying to go without him seeing me- well I failed miserably.

"Alice" I heard being shouted across the car park.
I turned around and put on a fake smile. "Fp, what are you doing at this side of the town." Shit, I just completely let my guard down and he noticed it too.
"Alice are you ok?" He said sarcastically
"Yes why wouldn't I be?"
"Well you just had a moment to make a snarky comment about how I'm from the south side and I shouldn't be on the north side and you just let it slide."
"Well if you must know I thought, scene as though you cleaned up a murder for Betty and jughead, I should let you off for a while." I said with a charming smile placed on my lips
"Who said I did it for jug and Betty?"
"Well who else would you do it for?"
"Well she's about 5ft6, has blonde hair and the most stunning blue eyes."
"Fp, I didn't know you did it for me. Uh why di" I was cut off by jughead beeping the horn for fp to get in the truck.
"I'll see ya later Ali" and with that he drove off.

I stood there in awe, he covered up a murder for me and I didn't even have the decency to realize it. I need to fix this soon.
