Chapter 2

Percy's POV

"Baby girl we've got to go" mommy said from the car outside as I scoured the beach looking for something.

"But mommy I want a seashell" I said and then I saw something blue glint in the light a few steps into the water.

"Be careful. I don't want you falling in, and I don't want to get my dress ruined. Hurry we've got to go sign you up for kindergarten and then we are going on a camping trip in the woods for the next week while I search for an apartment for us to live in"

"What's an apertmant" I waddled out of huge water with the shell in my hands as I tried to punch a hole in it, but then I saw a little hole just big enough for my string to go in it, and I shoved it through and brought it to mommy for her to tie it.

"No baby girl an apartment, it is a big block with rooms in it—what's this" she asked turning around from the Jeep to see me holding the shell on a string up to her with my little arms.

"Irs a shelly mommy" I said holding it up further, if that's possible " I finds it in the water please ties it" mother chuckled for a reason I didn't understand but took the shell and tied the string using a complicated knot and put it around my head. I looked down to see the shell had turned around and was sticking to my chest and I winced as it sunk into my skin as a little blue bump and the string sank into it also and made a silver ring on my shoulder, neck, and an arrow on my chest to the seashell bump.

"Mommy" I said and she didn't say anything I walked up and tugged her pant leg "mommy"

"What" she said turning around and I shut up noticing that she just wanted to go

"What have yous chosen for our stay" I asked and she realized a little

"Oh you little munchkin, we are going to be living in a little apartment with a man that has agreed to take us in" I noticed her eyes close when she said this but I didn't push her hurt.

"Is he nice" I pushed a little more on her leg swaying a little

"I think so" she didn't lie this time but I stayed silent until she picked me up and put me in the car seat in the back of the Jeep.

An hour later ( Percy fell asleep in the seat)

I woke up and saw us in the woods and mommy was just turning

"Mommy are we at camping" I asked and she nodded looking at the road.

Another long time of watching the trees and road go by and she turned again into a little forest. I felt something watching me and I looked into the forest to see a big black shape with yellow eyes looking at me in the forest and I put my hand on the window to say hi and it's eyes looked curious as to why.

I played around the trees in the woods as mommy set up the tent and I saw the eyes a ways away again looking at me in wonder, and then mommy asked me over and I realized that it was bed time, but I would usually stare into the night at the stars for a while and then go to sleep.

"It's time for bed honey" she said and looked into the forest with fear, but tried not to let it show.

"But mommy I want to watch the stars and talk to the moon" it was the only thing that I wanted to do at night until I fell asleep.

"No honey it is safer but still unsafe for you out here" mommy said and I was confused as to why.

"Then can I watch the stars through the top of the house" I asked

"Sure honey" I don't care, and then she picked me up and when we were in the house she opened the top and went in her hollow bag, a minute later she was breathing hard and I took this as my chance and I crawled on her legs and in between her feet and then I opened the door, closed it, and sat on the table looking at the stars and searching for the full moon. I never knew why but I always felt when the moon was the strongest and biggest in the night sky.

It was behind me and partially hidden by the trees and then I noticed the black shape also staring at the moon from the other side of the tent. I climbed off the table and went over to it, and then I noticed that it was a doggie and I pushed my hand to its fur and it tended up before turning around and barring it's teeth at me and they were white and shiny in the moon and when I touched them the wolf shrank back looking at me in curiosity. I wiped the wet stuff from my finger and went to touch it again, but it stepped back still confused and curious.

"Doggie are you looking at her too" I asked and looked at the moon with wonder, wonder at how it lit up the sky and calmed me down. I saw the doggie tilt it's head at me before looking back between me and the moon, and then it sat down next to me and I put my hand on it immediately and started to pet it.

"Wait you aren't a doggie, your bigger than a doggie I saw on the road, and your bigger than a wolfie, I'm just going to call you Lyn, yes my wolfie is Lyn"

Lycaon's POV

The girl was an interesting thing and when she first touched me making my defenses go up I couldn't kill her even though she was a demigod and they were my prey, and it would be so easy to just bite off her head, drag her body away, and then kill the mother in her sleep, but she entranced me because she wasn't scared of me when I growled and almost attacked her. I knew immediately that she wasn't food due to the strange aura around her and the calming friendly tone and feel of her voice and touch. She reminded me of the time some millennia ago when I was human and could do and touch things before that man cursed me for killing my own children, so what they were brats anyways just like him. 

We both watched the moon for a while and then I decided to give her the choice, if she wanted it if she was ready, but I didn't want to scare her with my voice because strangely as it is I didn't want her to leave my side, my touch, I missed having kids and I would not let my cursed, dark and twisted heart mess that up for me again. 

I am going to give you a choice young one, I am giving you the choice of freedom from your mortality, freedom from your shell as a human thing that will die soon I waited for her to run away but she just put her head on my body still watching the moon and for a second I was wondering if she even heard me until she talked again though sleepily. 

"You don't have to use your head-voice Lyn, I am not scared of you, your pack, or what your voice sounds like" she slightly startled me again when she spoke so suddenly, and yet so softly and tired that I had to strain to hear her. 

"I am saying that I want to give you the choice of immortality, though this curse is painful, I give you the choice when you are ready to join my pack as one of us" I said for once not caring that I was accepting of a Demigod and a strong one at that by her aura and her soul

"I accept" she said and I breathed in relief and was about to bite her in the shoulder where I bite most when I turn "but not yet" this made me stop

"Why not young one" I asked lowering my head to look her in the eye

"I'm not ready to leave my mother behind for the world without me yet, and I want to grow strong and be ready for your blessing" she said and then closed her eyes and as she slide to the ground I went to lay down but a fire being thrown in my direction made me shoot up and look around to see a woman coming at us with another stick of fire in her hand. How did she lite it so fast, especially for a mortal woman. I jumped up and them stood over the girl protectively and then I realized that this must be her mother and I dipped my head in meaningless apology and  scurried off into the forest even though I could've taken her down, eaten her, and dragged away the young one with no trouble at all, but I respected her as she respected and comforted me, but the thing that bugged me the most was the last word she said blessing...how?
