"So when I get off the what am I supposed to look for?" I ask my mother. "Look for a sign with your name on it duh!" Mom replies. "Right. So who am I staying with again?" I ask. "The Edwards'. Keirs remember why I'm making you do this. You need to get away from Blake." Mom reminds me wearily. "I know mom, I know." I say as I roll my eyes. "Okay well here we are." Mom points out as the taxi pulls up to the airport. "I see that." I respond sarcastically. Mom doesn't say anything else while we're gathering my luggage. She walks me to the airport doors and gives me a big bear hug. "I'm gonna miss you so much! Bye honey." Mom says before she walks back to the taxi.

I go through airport security and take my carry on. The plane ride to Canada is spent reading my old copy of Evermore. By the time we get there but I resist the urge to work and grab my carry on and my book then make my way off the plane. I see a girl my age holding a sign with my name in bright pink letters. I walk up to her and introduce myself. "Hello Keirson my name is Claire Edwards and my mother tells me you'll be staying with us." the girl says as she shakes my hand. We go to the luggage area and grab mine. "So you'll be going to Degrassi, right?" Claire inquires. "Yeah. What's it like there?" I ask. "It depends on the type of people you hang out with but it's a normal high school you know drama, class, and more drama." She replies. I smile it looks like I could become friends with this girl.

The drive to the Edwards' household is quiet but I don't mind. Claire pulls up to a nice two-story house and helps me haul my luggage to my new room. "This is where you'll be sleeping. It used to be my step brothers room so ignore anything gross you might find." Claire warns me as I settle into the bed. "I had four older brothers I think I'll be okay." I assure her through my yawn. "Well you must be tired so I'll be going now. See you in the morning." Claire says before she shuts the door. I turn my cell back on and instantly get like ten text messages, fifteen missed calls and all of them are from Blake Stevenson.

Blake is my ex boyfriend and he's in a gang. He was sweet and loving at first and then he slowly turned violent. My mom walked in on me in the shower one night and saw a bruise and freaked out. She enrolled me in some foreign exchange student program and made me break up with Blake. I don't think that helped much judging by these texts.

Babe, Jason said he saw you get in a cab.

Where you going?

Babe?

I'm going to find out where you are.

Your sister really doesn't know to keep secrets.
